Help me prove that horoscopes are fake... I have a friend who is addicted to reading horoscopes and lives by them. She is very stressed out.
I keep telling her that it is the horoscopes that causing the stress. She really needs help, what can I tell her to convince her that horoscopes are fakery. I'll bet Anxiety will have the best answer.

Have her read more than one horoscope...like, say seven of them. How they contradict each other should help drive home that fact.
At the same time, though, don't underestimate the infinite ways that God and the universe has to communicate with us individually...

Thanks but I don't think about astrology in terms of God or any thing to do with the universe. btw, do you believe in horoscopes. I think it is basically the power of sugguestion. You can always point out that most astrologers feel that those daily horoscopes you find in newspapers are too general to fit any one person. Astrologers argue that there are so many factors, outside of just your sunsign, that effect you. Do not hurry yourself in your spirit to become offended, for the taking of offense is what rests in the bosom of the stupid ones. (Ecclesiastes 7:9)

[Edited 8/16/05 7:35am] Well, I think of everything in existence in terms of God and the universe...communication towards us individually (not as a whole) thru any one of an infinite number of avenues is possible in my mind, even if one of those avenues for a specific person is a horoscope on occasion. In that manner, I "believe" in horoscopes...when they address specific issues within an individual that already exist. I chalk it up to reading that horoscope on that particular day was God/the universe wanting to use that particular horoscope to communicate something to me or to others...not that the guy writing these things down in the newsroom is clarevoyant or anything.

I have told her that. The belief is strong in her. She reads them constantly and claims that they are accurate.

Great answer. I used to believe in horoscopes just like my friend in question. I became addicted also. I would aviod certain situations on certain days according to the reading. I became worried constantly. I eventually became physically ill. Then one day I burned all the books I had.

Ask her if she can explain why the position of big chunks of rock and/or gas bells in respect to the sun will have any effect on someones future, let alone that that future is exactly the same for the 400 million of people on earth who are born in the same month.
