AURORA – One victim led to another 17 victims, and police believe there are several more out there.

A 31-year-old man accused of sexually assaulting at least 18 minors remains in Arapahoe County Jail on felony sex abuse charges while police continue to investigate.

Aurora Police arrested Zuri-Kye Latifbay McGhee on July 11 after receiving a report that a child had been sexually assaulted. After police interviewed a 14-year-old victim, they arrested McGhee at a home in Aurora, where he was living with an 11-year-old boy and his parents.

McGhee initially told police he was 13, a ploy police say McGhee used over and over to gain access to children. The ruse was effective, police say, because McGhee looks very young.

“He certainly did not look to be 31 years old,” said Sgt. Rudy Herrera, APD spokesman.

Police did not announce the arrest until yesterday.

“(Detectives) wanted us to hold back until they were able to identify other victims,” Herrera said.

McGhee’s alleged victims are boys and girls ranging in age from 9 to 13. Police say he met some victims by volunteering at local schools and churches.

Herrera said police believe there are more Denver Metro area victims who have yet to be identified.

McGhee is being held on three felony sex assault charges and several related charges. His bond is $800,000.

Police said McGhee pled guilty to one count of contributing to the delinquency of a minor in New Mexico in 1999.
