Get an EDUCATION watch Freaky Films....

I was watching some OBSCURE FILMS as ONLY I ZEL would.. Check out 200 Motels..Ringo Starr plays Zappa, Lost Boys, ValleyGirl, Doctor Detroit, Nijinsky. The Weird Forbidden Zone... Try to find these titles. Punk Rock stuff. And Devil's Rejects has E.J. Daily and Donna Dixon in it...

maybe just slightly. or not. i think it gets a bad rap - it gets across exactly what it intends to convey. it's just easy to feel bad about yourself for sitting through it.

That's basically how I feel about it too - Pasolini may have been a sick, twisted freak, but he knew what he wanted to say and had the ability to articulate it...I can't deny that the fact that I own a copy of this occasionally makes me feel a little dirty. Definitely not something I trot out at family reunions.

well, if nothing else, that sucker's gonna be worth the big bucks, if it isn't already. out of print criterion DVDs go for insane prices. i've already given up the possibility of ever even TOUCHING the criterion 'sid & nancy'. sigh

Yeah - and Salo had an extremely limited printing. I've heard that legitimate copies go for several hundred dollars - and it's not a particularly clean print, either. Supposedly the British Film Institute's release is much better (and also includes a documentary), but it remains unseen by me.

i guess it's not available on netflix, huh. lol

the rarest criterion thing i have is altman's '3 women', which isn't rare yet, but i'm very sure it will be. i know like maybe two people who know what it is, and only one of those two really appreciate it.

of course, i don't think you should ever sell your copy of 'salo' if it's a movie you appreciate. not that this is a rare DVD at all, but they're going to have to pry my copy of 'grey gardens' out of my cold, dead hands. better yet, maybe i'll ask that my copy be cremated along with me.... nuts

Pier Pasolini's Salo (or the 120 days of Sodom) - one of the more vicious films you're ever likely to see. Some people think it's vile, some think it's profound, but I don't think there were many who were indifferent.

The BFI's site for their release on the film has lots of info on the film and its history.
