Of course it hurts. But when your skin is baby smooth for weeks you pretty much forget about it. I loathe shaving. My skin is sensitive and I get razor burn too easily. When you wax it grows in all fine and such cause its brand new hair, not like shaving where it cuts off at the most coarse section.
The pain really isn't unbearable. And it makes me dizzy for an hour or so cause I get all adrenaline/endorphin-y from it. So in a sense, the after affects can be fun.

DON'T USE NAIR!!!! U can cause the worst burn in the most horrible places. *need I say more?* Shaving stinks! Use wax. It hurts but it is very quick if done right and lasts longer . As far as shape, I have done the strip and a small, well trimmed triangle once. Some men don't like it though. I was with a guy a while back who was really into hairy cooches.
