I-River - Help Needed!

Hi everyone,

Like most people here, music is one of my biggest obsessions - I'm hardly ever without it. music The last few months, though, have sort have been a detox. I moved house (my music's still in boxes and needs to be sorted out), then - the final staw - my discman died. I've just had to learn to live without it as much. It's been interesting.

So I, er, just went and bought a 40GB I-River!!! woot!

I can now listen to my entire Prince collection wherever I go drool And all my other favourite artists. drool No more fannying about trying to decide what cd I want to listen to. cloud9

The only bloody thing: how do I download the music (without a pc)? I bought the I-River as - until I get a pc - I'll need to download tracks from my hi-fi. Anyway, does anyone here have one? I've tried reading the booklet and it's still not making much sense to me. I'm rubbish at these sort of things.

Any help will be very gratefully received. pray

I'm going to take a look. Thanks, daPope!

Maybe it's just me but I feel like I'm turning into one those old men who can't even work a video recorder! And the only person I know who's got one is currently in New Zealand. Only a few thousand miles away. lol

I don't know how the I-River works, although I remember TheFrog mentioning on a thread that he has one so you could orgnote him, or wait for him to show up here.
Lemmy, Bowie, Prince, Leonard. RIP.

i do have one, yes (hi asylum smile ) but i've never recorded from another source - do it all from a pc.

think Christopher has an iRiver, and has recorded from source (seem to remember him saying the quality was poo), so you could orgnote him, or wait for him to show up here. smile

Cheers, mate. That'll be my next venture into the 21st Century. boxed For now, I'll have to record it all from source. That's exactly what my mate does and it seemed fine whem I heard it. shrug Thanks, though.

I've got an iRiver H340.. great player, especially with 14GB of Prince music on it and a few videos to boot! I was able to directly rip my vinyl collection by connecting the player straight to the amp. You could do the same for CDs too, but you're better off encoding them on a PC since you'll have more choice of codecs and bitrates, and it'll be done without any intermediate digital to analog conversion.

misticriver.net is the best iRiver site. It's a friendly spot.
Life it ain't real funky unless you got that orgPop.

sabaisabai - thanks very much. I'll take a look at that site. You've got me all excited now.

And thanks everyone - I appreciate your help. Hopefully this time next week I'll be walking around with a ton of music to hand. woot!

I wonder if I can download tracks directly from the NPGMC? hmmm
