I was called for jury duty years ago. Ended-up sitting on a trial wherein a young lady was suing a Toronto theatre because a light had fallen on her before an Aretha Franklin concert (she was sitting in the last row and a crew member had dropped it on her).
Consensus was that the plaintiff was a spoiled brat who was lying about the severity of her injuries, but they settled in the middle of the trial. Best moment? Testimony that described the venue's attempt to appease the woman by taking her backstage to meet Aretha after the show. The plaintiff testified that she "wasn't very friendly". | |
