According to a scoop send into LatinoReview, John Woo is seeking out The Rock to play He-Man for Masters of the Universe. Here is a snippet of the report below:

The film follows a young Prince Adam, the hybrid of an Earthling and an Eternian. At the age of 18, he was taken to Castle Grayskull, where Adam received super powers. He-Man has a sidekick in the form of a tiger, Battle Cat, and a deadly enemy, Skeletor. Here's what we are being told:

Mr John Woo is making a movie version of "Masters of the Universe" and he is getting The Rock to play He-Man. It says it'd be the second of the films he has done with Rock, they are doing one called "Spy Hunter" together. He-Man planned for Summer 2006 release it says.

John Woo's directing this? This is gonna be a real trip.

the rock as he-man? yeah, he's really got that nordic look down.

weird casting. i hope john woo doesn't decide to do a remake of "lady sings the blues".

I hope it turns out better than the original "Masters of the Universe" in the 80's. That thing was weak!

but i do think they should give him blond hair, it's a central part of the character, like big hobbit feet for frodo. and being blond will make him look even more like a crossbreed. perhaps Rock will only play He-man, and someone else, will play Prince Adam and the metamorphosis will be more dramatic.
