i've worked nights for a long time now, and i'm ready to start working days again. night shifts are really starting to take their toll, not to mention it's hard to see anyone in my spare time. sigh

There have been many times that I have not wanted to go to work. then one day i accompanied my friend to church and the one thing that the preacher said that I actually paid attention to was, "You shouldn't say that you don;t want to go to work. You need to thank Jesus you have a job!!"

Now, I'm not the most religiously inclined person and I haven;t been to chruch since then, but after being told that I didn;t hate going to work as much. shrug

I'm certainly not trying to convert you to any kind of religion. I just wanted to share my experience with not wanting to go to work. rose

yeah, i'm grateful to have the job i've got. i get paid well, they don't mind us goofing off online when there's no work (obviously lol ), and i've gotten WAY better at the work i do since i've been at this job. i've just gotten to the point where working nights doesn't serve a purpose for me anymore, and i'm really ready to quit working nights and join the 9 to 5 crowd again. i'm on the list to transfer when there's a slot available, which could be any day...it's just a matter of being patient, which isn't one of my greatest skills...

let's just say there's a reason you rarely see me on here on weekends...and when my hours change, you all probably won't have me locking threads up left and right at night, either! lol

I'd rather not be at work tonight, either. confused

I've been working evenings for years, and I'm soooo sick of it. I barely get to see my wife during the week...only in passing. I miss out on all the family stuff, too. On the other hand, we've saved thousands of dollars by not having to pay for any daycare. Now that my brother-in-law and his family live in the same town as I do, I can actually switch over to days if only there were decent jobs out there right now.

i hear ya about not being able to hang out with family or your spouse during the week. that's a HUGE obstacle in working nights. it's worst when you work a graveyard shift and you can't go to sleep or wake up with them, and during the few hours at night or in the afternoon that you can hang out, you just want to sleep (unless you're REALLY disciplined in when you sleep during the day, which i could never be). fortunately i work second shift, but it still puts a crimp in my life. i can't do any theater or improv because i can't audition or rehearse at night. all i can do is keep taking classes on weekends until my schedule frees up to start trying out for shows.

meanwhile, i'd just like to be able to make dinner with my sweetie during the week and maybe watch some of those prime time TV shows you people are always talking about.... sigh

Heh...people still can't believe I've never watched any episodes of Friends or Seinfeld (among others). Well, how would I watch them when I've worked second shift for 14 years? lol

i do feel kind of fortunate that i've been protected from reality television.

still, it would be nice to be able to watch the daily show every night. sigh

oh, and i will NOT miss taking public transpo home in the middle of the night with all the freakers and weirdos. i've seen so many teetering messes on my way home from work, i kinda welcome having to deal with the daytime transit rush hour mob orgies again.
