DEll vs. Compaq/HP vs. IBM

Which would you recommend?

Dell Dimension?

Compaq Presario or Hewlitt Packard?

IBM ThinkCentre?

I'm going to get one of these, just not sure which one. I'm not ready to go the Mac route just yet

i've had my compaq for a long time, and while it gets on my nerves more than a bit, it's never let me down or messed up anything i've worked on.

as you can tell, my standards are strict. lol

First of all, Compaq and HP are made by the same manufacturer. So, that leaves IBM, and Dell.
After having expereince with all of these brands, I can tell you that so far, I've had the the better expereince with HP. It's certainly more reliable. Plus, it comes with Hyer Threading technology which is a bonus.

Dell is having a fab sale right now. Laptop for $500 and desktop for $299. check out dell.com/tv. I have a dell - it's pushing five years old now - but it still works pretty well. I'm content enough.

I have an iBook too, but I would LOVE to get the desktop and strip my current PC and put them together. $300 is such a good price, too. I'm torn...

Someone said they will build what I want for about $900.00, but there's no warranty or support tech for that

True. You'd have to rely on the manufacturer's warranty for each component. I'm kind of my own support tech when it comes to my systems, and if I can't find the answer then I turn to tech forums.

$900 is a bit much. I'm replacing my motherboard, RAM and processor for around $150.
