I'm in Stockholm. We don't really have shabby liquor stores. They're all owned by the government and they're squeaky clean. No joke.

Oh god yeah - I saw that with my own eyes last year. You have to take a ticket tag and wait to be called. Was all very odd to me, but understood the reasons becuase of governmental laws etc when explained to me. Very low alcholism in Sweden though, right? I loved Stokholm - had a partner there. For all you Brits, It was kinda like buying your booze in a chemists

I'm glad you understood the reasons because I don't. I think it's ridiculous that you can't even by strong beer in a non-government owned store. Sweden used to have quite big problems with alcoholism but that was back in the dark ages, basically. These days the governmental alchohol monopoly is just another manifestation of the "big brother" attitude in this country. It's far from communism, but just as far from the individualism I saw in Canada, for example. Sweden doesn't trust its citizens. Still, I didn't feel too depressed when I came home to Stockholm this time. We have a quite lively cultural scene here, and even though we don't have the greatest amount of restaurants, clubs and pubs in the world, those we do have are pretty damn good. Also, I love the "Venice of the north" feel of the city and the unbeatable archipelago just outside it. Where did your partner live? Just curious. .

I'm being perfectly honest when I say that every other drunk I see here (and there aren't that many) is from Finland. I don't know if they take the ferry over here just to drink or what, but they're here alright.

How did you manage to type the "ö"? I'm impressed. Well, the three of us became a couple. Shame as I loved Kristian very much, but it's his journey just as it is ours. It is what it is - y'know?
