I've always heard doctors say it's heredity and there's not much you can do about it.
I'm such a geek, so I googled it and this is exactly what I've always been told: Dear Val: What causes the dark circles under my eyes, and how can I get rid of them? Nothing seems to work. Response: The bad news first: You can't get rid of them. But you can hide them (more on that in a second). Because the skin under the eye is very thin, the blood vessels beneath may show through, looking dark or shadowy. Though predisposition to undereye circles is genetic, puffiness, allergies, dehydration, and sun exposure can emphasize them. Which is why dark shadows might be more obvious on your beautifully contented face following a long, deep sleep after a summer day of hiking in the mountains. When you're in the mood to conceal, moisturize the eye area first, says Troy Surratt, makeup artist for beauty.com. Apply concealer to the dark area, starting below the tear duct and working downward. Pat the color on. To set it, dip a small, soft brush in pale, yellow-based powder, shake almost all the powder off, and then lightly dust it over the concealer. [Edited 7/29/05 7:49am]

Having not slept much for about half a week by then, we needed to fix ourselves up!! The cream DID work. No more dark circles and the skin was not baggy under our eyes. Try it!
That's funny | |

That's funny Probably because it's narrows the blood vessels under the eyes which cause the dark circles in the first place. Doesn't sound like a structural solution though and who knows what kind of negative long term effects it might have.

Never tried it though yes it works The only problem is that it smells like an hemoroid-stricken sumo wrestler sat on your face.

Just hack out the skin from under your eyes with a pen knife. It worked for me.
