The only med I regularly take is called Remicade. It's an infusion(via IV) every 60 days. It's for my Crohn's Disease. It really cuts down on the inflamation which causes A LOT of pain. I do smoke the occasional joint/bowl. Maybe like how often as others may Drink...probably less. I have dabbled in other things....but I'm just too old for that shit now...it's hard work and I'm lazy...I'll leave it to the youngin's...if they so desire.

Also...I'm not scared of the occasional pain pill if something is bothering, but I'm careful with those to a degree...have had problems in the past. Me and pain just DON'T get along.

And yes....Remicade does have it's side effects...but they are by far outweighed by the good. It causes my immune system to be impaired...so I could get sick easily...but if I just stay away from ill people...it's usually all good. The weakened immune system did cause me to get get shingles once....That sucked BAD...but my tummy was feeling great...the shigles eventually went away and my tummy is still feeling great. So, there are side effects, but they are worth the trade.
[Edited 7/28/05 10:33am]

How do you find the Remicade treatment? My mum has arthritis and may be going down that route pretty soon. If you rather talk privately then orgnote me. If you don't want to discuss it at all, I appreciate that.

I did the entire gammut of allergy meds, and found it was more of what I put in my body than what surrounded it. Dairy took the mucous out of my body which clears you up immensely! I took Claritin D, Zyrtec D...and they both did wonders, but in time I got headaches from the both of them and they both raised my blood pressure. So do what you will, just know the side effects are present for a reason and they do damage.

whap!

I don't eat dairy. Except the occasional bit of cheese and occasionally being too weak to refuse a banana split. I usually use soy cheese now, at that.

I commend you on your own values, but why haven't you done so for Syd?

You probably "are" lactose intolerant as Cow Milk is for fucking Cows..not humans, but since there are farmers out there struggling and the government fooling you into believing cow milk is good for you, you will continue to struggle with the fact that ingesting it is necessary.

I was young when I'd have bad stomach aches after eating cereal, and in the early seventies there was no such words as lactose intolerant, but the signs were evident and still are in alot of people. So instead of telling you why lactose intolerance occurs...the government will quickly just do the research and prescribe a med that, like I stated earlier, has far more money making potential than simply telling you the truth of the matter.

Sometimes, people need to take meds to keep from dying. And if not dying means feeling nauseous...well, isn't the choice obvious?

actually, i agree whole-heartedly with your point.

sell people something.

if it makes them sick, what a great opportunity to sell them some remedy.

and if that makes them fat, what a great opportunity to sell them a diet pill.

and if that makes them depressed, what a great opportunity to sell them more medication AND a self-help book.

... to the point where we've forgotten what made us sick to begin with. keep 'em confused, keep 'em buying!

Maybe I am slightly intolerant - I have lots of other allergies too. I have friends that are very sensitive to milk - they come out in lumps!!! Even though cow's milk is for cows, a lot of people seem to have absolutely no problem with it.

Oh and by the way I don't feel it necessary to ingest it and despite what the government says it is a good source of protein and calcium.

This may be true, but look at what cost you are getting it, there are PLENTY of ways to get that protein sweety. No need in suffering to get it. Feel me?

I've had depression, I've taken antidepressants, and as far as I'm concerned Tom Cruise can stick his opinions up his arse!! When you've hit rock bottom, you need something to bring yourself back up and antidepressants helped me immensely. Granted there are some side effects but at the time they only made me feel one millionth as lousy as being depressed did. I exercise, eat a healthy balanced diet, have a really good life on the whole so to this day I can't pinpoint what made me depressed.

I am willing to bet your allergy is nowhere NEAR mine and I have let all that shit go! Breathing well everyday shorty!

Whap!

Depends. If an allergy makes you snot-filled and hive-y, then changing diet and certain lifestyle habits can do a world of good. If your allergy can kill you (like many of mine) nothing will change that. No vegan diet, no holistic alternatives, nothing. Just staying the hell away from the allergen and taking adrenaline through a needle (Epi-pens! whee! nutty )prescribed by the doctor.

Tell me to take more vitamins...*grumble grumble*....sure, if you feel like driving me to the emergency ward.
