Chicago to build America's tallest building! How it stacks up - 2,000 feet to top of spire, taller than the 1,776-foot Freedom Tower - 920,000 total square feet, compared with 4.5 million for Sears Tower - Up to 250 condos, compared with 472 for Trump's Chicago tower - Condos would likely be valued between $6.5 million and $7.5 million More info: http://www.chicagotribune...enews2-utl What do u guys think of the design. The architect is world famous Santiago Calatrava.

i think it'll look fantastic, but...
on first seeing it, i thought it looked like one of those plastic icicles (inverted, of course) which you hang on a christmas tree.

and what is it with chucking a thin spire thingie on the top of tall buildings, just to make them even taller?
i think they should all be discounted when measuring for tallest building.

on first sight, i thought it similar to plastic icy things (bottom up, no doubt) which you hang on a christmas fir. So its phallic quality turns you on?

i think they should all be discounted when measuring for tallest building. There are actually rules to whether you 'count' them or not. Something to do with how they affect the integrity of the structure or something. |

A friend of mine from Chicago told me it looked like a giant drill bit. I like it though. It will go nicely on the lakefront. Its a tall building but it doesnt overpower the skyline. Apparently Donald Trump has a problem with it...whatever!

i think they should all be discounted when measuring for tallest building. Otherwise, you could build, like, a bungalow with just one massive sonuvvabitch of a spire on top

And it's never in Britain. I think we are more likely to build The World's Most Reasonably Proportioned Building Without, You Know, Going Over The Top, Old Chap, And Let's Try And Keep It Quite Traditional, OK(TM)

i think they should all be discounted when measuring for tallest building. I agree....they will build it to a certain height, then add that spire for another few feet to break the record....just build the damn building...LOL The man who does not read good books has no advantage over the man who cannot read them. -- Mark Twain.
