Her popularity is waning? Her last major movie garnered her an Oscar nomination. She's actually bigger than ever now. "Beauty Shop"? "Chicago" was a few years back...right after "Bringing Down the House" or maybe even last year around the time of her CD and "Taxi" (which ended up tanking hard) would have been right. Idon't think she's doing terribly but she isn't celeb du jour anymore.

However, dear JANFAN4L, everyone knows who Liza Minelli is as well. La will be around for a while but she's not on fire right now. Good night, sweet Prince | 7 June 1958 - 21 April 2016

I'm just saying if they wanted to release "Living Single" it would have been wish to cash in on her popurality right after a big success like "...House" or "Chicago" (not sure wich came first). Sort of back on topic, I finally watched an episode of "227" which I've owned for over a month...not as great as I remember it but then again pilots aren't the best examples of a series. I like the fact that Marla Gibbs was a also a producer. Very cool! [Edited 7/27/05 19:43pm]

The Liza reference was only to demonstrate that everyone knowing your name is not evidence of A-List status per se. You're exactly right on the DVD timing. Hell, "Living Single" was the prototype for "Friends," anyway, so why not? It was okay. The real problem with 227 is that it lacked a signature character. Jackee's character got to be very annoying. "Amen," IMHO, was better. Good night, sweet Prince | 7 June 1958 - 21 April 2016

"Amen" was a great show and there seems to be a demand for it. I often look up any old show on amazon and related searches often show that people are looking for "Amen"...release it!

That's what led to the show's demise because she overpowered everyone else -- much in the same way Urkel did on Family Matters, etc. It wasn't like the Simpsons were Bart was the standout, signature character when the show first started, but eventually the writers were able to bring more life into an array of characters and no one overpowered the other.

It's hard to judge by Season one, where Sandra isn't overpoweing anyone quite yet. She is a good and fun presence. However, as I recall she became more over the top as the show went on.

Especially after that Emmy she won for Best Supporting Actress in '87. It went downhill from there.
