Funeral Help

Hi,
tomorrow, at the bar which i run, there is a private party being held for the people who have a attended a funeral service earlier that day. There will be 70 people in attendence. I am unsure what music to play in the background. initially i was going to opt for some gentle classical music but now i learn that the attendees are going to be wearing bright colours as opposed to black as a form of celebration. Can anybody recommend any music which i could play? i was thinking of perhaps some innofensive pop music? anythoughts? any help would be appreciated. I wil have to go and buy some cd's on Monday you see.

The deceased is the brother of one of my female staff. Its horrible to see hear upset. shes a lovely person and this has destroyed her.

Thanks

My condolences.

I'm not sure of the crowd, but if the mood will be decidedly upbeat, have you considered playing some New Orleans-style jazz -- stuff like "When the Saints go Marching In" as played in a parade funeral?

Jazz funerals of this sort are really celebratory and a great southern tradition. I'm sure its not the type of music you usually play at the bar, but then this isn't a typical time.

Can't you call and ask someone who's going to be there?

Or maybe your coworker? confused

Stick to hits from the Easy Listening catalog.

Also, old soul is always good for nostalgic occasions, as long as it's not too sexual.

You may even consider jazz. It's sophisticated yet energetic. No blues, though. Or hard rock. Or Hip Hop.

I would say spirituals .. but not all funerals are church-based or regilious. So that could backfire.
