Best movie EXPERIENCE of 2005

What was...not just the best movie, but your best movie EXPERIENCE of this fair year? For me, it's

1. Meeting Gene Wilder face-to-face and then seeing a double feature of Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory and Young Frankenstein immediately after. pimp

2. Seeing the Bosnian film Days and Hours with the director present and listening to him and the audience discuss the aftereffects and potential healing of wartime tragedy.

3. Star Struck, a silent film comedy starring Gloria Swanson in a movie palace with live piano accompaniment which was improvised.

smoker It's been a good year...

"War of the Worlds" for staying true to form and the special effects!!

Aw easy - my best movie experience this year is probably the best movie experience I will ever have...

May 16th - Going to Leicester Square to watch the Star Wars saga back to back, includin Revenge of the Sith 3 days before release...
the only time it has ever been done officially and, apparently, the only time it will be. On this day I saw.met/spoke to:

Christopher Lee
Jeremy Bullock
Peter Mayhew
Kenny Baker
Anthony Daniels
Ian McDiarmid
Hyaden Christensen
George Lucas
Rick MCcallum

No Natalie Portman though sad

1000 lucky ticket holders, TV stations, Radios, celebs and a
full size X-Wing. The first 5 films were awesome and then we got to see everyone arrive for the official premiere, the London Philharmonic Orchestra

played the tracks from the films and then we went in to settle down and watch ROTS.....

In wanders 30 Stormtroopers, Darth Vader, Hayden Christensen (Anakin),
Ian McDiarmid (Palpatine), Rick McCallum and George Lucas to introduce the film and say a few words and then the film ran in perfect digital vision
on a huge screen..I was happy.

People began to leave afer the film but the guests came back

A truly awesome day that I cant do justice in my crappy little words

my only regret is that I took any notice of the NO DIGITAL CAMERAS warning...nobody else did

Well as far as the "Sci-Fi" part of the movie goes, it does, but I think they die of a different disease, but I loved the MAYHEM!

I love when movies become an event and not just a movie. I got a tour of the Skywalker Ranch once and stood next to George Lucas in the lunch line. biggrin

Not the best film I've seen so far this year, but seeing March of the Penguins was a great experience. The theatre was packed with kids and their parent(s). The kids were so into the film and laughed, cried, gasped along with the film. It was a beautiful thing.

Great film! thumbs up! I didn't expect it to be so moving, but it was. You'll feel like a teenage girl at some point (if you don't already), because you will at various points during the movie feel the urge to go, "Awwwww." They're amazing animals. All that work just to get their penguin on.

Probably the funniest expereince was when they were showing a bunch of Troma movies (Toxic Avenger, Class Of Nuke ´Em High etc) at Stockholm Film Festival and the godfather of troma, Lloyd Kaufman, was there. I decided to kidnap him to the radio station where I was working at the time and do an interview. It went soooo well, the guy is incredibly funny and you wouldn't believe what kinds of movies he's making when you see his middle-aged, distinguished, suit-wearing self. He was ALL OVER the studio, trying to set me up with one of the girls there, reorganizing our CDs, telling us some of the most far out stories I have ever heard... lol He had a busy schedule but he must have spent a whole afternoon with us. Now that's class.

...And Million Dollar Baby had me crying my eyes out as he induced her death...because it reminded me of making the decision to take my father off life support...

Yes...it was a good experience as I will always miss my Father and every memory is a loving one.
