I'm just getting back from seeing Drew. He's doing as expected. He's heavily drugged so he's in and out. I was told that they think he will be moved out of ICU today, if not tomorrow. His doctor did a cat-scan and at the time of my visit the results were not in. Drew's nurse said that it had been a while and that "no news is good news." Drew will finally get to eat today and tomorrow they will get him out of the bed and start him walking. I was hoping to see a little more improvement- as far as being able to talk with him, but I guess it's still too soon and he was drugged up. I'm going back midafternoon and this evening so I'll keep you updated today.

Things are improving by the hour!

Back from my second visit. He's a little more aware and talking more but still a bit confused. They are going to keep him in ICU tonight and move him tomorrow. He ate 2 bites of vanilla pudding. The nurse asked him what it was and Drew identified it correctly. Other than that he has just been drinking water and juice. They will bring him dinner tonight and hope he can eat something- Drew's a very picky eater, but he may not feel like eating. They will start him walking tomorrow. Hopefully his thinking will be clearer tomorrow. I saw a huge improvement over this morning. I know these things take time.

Back again. I saw Drew today at 8PM and he is starting to sound like Drew. He's able to hold a conversation, but he's still a little confused. He is asking to come home, he ate a cookie, some chocolate, and drank a coke. He says he had a chicken salad sandwich, but he also told me that he went to TJ Maxx today with a friend of ours. So I don't think he had a sandwich, but I hope he did. He is getting a regular room tomorrow, if he can't it's because the hospital doesn't have a room on the floor. If this happens he'll stay another day in ICU until a room becomes available. I think he'll be home soon. We were told 5 days ICU, 2-3 days room- this is day 2 in ICU, so he may be out in 5 days. Oh it rain heavily this evening and the hospital parking lots flooded- many cars were under water, the water was a high as the cars window!

Glad to hear that Drew is improving. Sorry to hear that he's going to be in the hospital that long; that's gotta be rough!
