2 Full Moons in Capricorn ...

Full Moon in Capricorn

So this year we have two Full Moons in Capricorn. It must be a sign of the times that we need to be reminded once again of personal sacrifice and responsibility. This is the Full Moon of accepting one's personal responsibility to heal the suffering of others. Did you know that most of the great spiritual teachers were born under the sign of Capricorn? Why? To change human consciousness requires a Herculean commitment to achievement no matter how hard or how long the road. This is Capricorn at its best.

This is the traditional Full Moon celebration of the guru: Guru Purnima. So this is the night to celebrate all the teachers in your life, especially those difficult Saturnian ones. Why this Full Moon to celebrate the teacher? The planet Saturn, the cosmic teacher, rules Capricorn. Lessons and learning come in many ways, sometimes with great pain and effort, but always with the end result of freeing us from old and often useless patterns of behavior. Teachers show up in many forms in our lives; lovers, spouses, parents, children, friends, co-workers, bosses, work. Recognize them all tonight and thank them, even when the lessons they teach are painful.

Use this night to look at your own failings and see in yourself that which you hate so much in others. Stop the projection of your own Saturnian inner darkness out onto those closest to you. This is the night to reach deep into your well of strength and decide that achieving inner peace is the only goal worth attaining at this moment in our human evolution. This Full Moon simultaneously uncovers our fear and reflects the solution to our fear: acting only from love and compassion, and doing the hard work of relieving the suffering of all sentient beings by achieving enlightenment and inner peace.

Our world is in shambles and don't let anyone tell you otherwise. We are sliding down a slippery slope toward massive decline. The Full Moon in Capricorn tells it like it is with no holds barred. The big difference between this Full Moon and the last one in Capricorn is that Saturn is now in Leo. (Follow this link to read more about Saturn in Leo and follow this link if you want to review the last Full Moon Message.) This Full Moon in Capricorn highlights the destructive nature of violence, power, greed, narcissism and fear mongering.

Saturn, the ruler of Capricorn, requires us to come to terms with fear by facing the reality of our own darkness. The recent bombings in the London subway are proof positive that the level of disconnection and hatred in our world has hit an all-time low. I continue to be shocked that any human being could purposely bring harm to any other human being. This madness must stop! The only solution is for everyone on all sides to look at their own shadow. The Islamic world must see its own fundamentalist dark side for what it is and deal with it immediately. The West must see its dark side for what it is and deal with it honestly and immediately.

I ask myself daily how can America and Britain hold terrorists to a higher standard that we hold ourselves? Why is an innocent life in the London subway more valuable than an innocent life in Iraq or Afghanistan? Is there a difference between state-led terrorism and fundamentalist/religious terrorism? When is violence in any form ever an appropriate means to an end? These are hard questions that a Full Moon in Capricorn asks us to consider. There are no easy answers to these questions. Nothing is black and white. All we can do is honestly look at our own behavior and fearlessly transform our own rejection of shadow in the hope of healing our relations with all others.

The Full Moon in Capricorn is the one night of the year when we can truly see our fear for what it is: a distinct inability to transcend the human-made irrational divisions of race, religion, nationality, and gender. There is no separateness, only love. All matter is made of love and therefore can only be love at its most basic, as well its highest expression. We need to create societal and governmental structures that solve these problems from a core belief in love and connectedness. This will of course require a complete shift in human consciousness. We must move away from identification with the small egoic, self, mired in the ignorance of separateness, to the full experience of the unbounded, transcendent divine Self, realizing love as the true nature of all existent life. Breaking our attachment to self-identification might just be a bit easier with the help of Saturn in Leo.

This is a very powerful and serious Full Moon-don't waste it!

nod Here there are like two little wisps of clouds that are directly over the moon. If I had a decent camera, I would get a pic of it and post it here, it looks really cool!

Also, do you think that ugly people are God's cruel joke on humanity (like the platypus and the heterosexual) or another form of population control?

Not that kinda dope, silly...skeeter spray. biggrin

Had a nice overnight on the lawn, only had one mosquito pester me. Maybe cuz it was only like 55 degrees and very damp. The moon was beautiful tho. Slipped behind the trees around 2am, saw two shooting stars! Some bunnies visited me this morning but the dog kept the cayotes away so all in all very nice. Of course, my kids told me I'm weird.... I thought they already knew that. confused lol
