The sunshine boys (a must see film) Walter matthau and geroge burns star as 2 old, once famous vaudiville stars who come back together, after years of not seeing eachother, for a one off perfomance of one of their famous sketches. It isn't the sketch thats funny, its the dialogue between the 2 characters. They hate eachother. The lines are as sharp as a knife. Very funny movie. Anyone seen it?

Neil Simon got an Oscar nom for the screenplay (not deserved), Walter Matthau got a Best Actor nom for playing his usual character, and George Burns won a Best Supporting Actor Oscar for being old. Anyhoo, this film is the original template for all the "old men behaving badly" bullshit films that came after it (Grumpy Old Men series springs to mind).

I saw a stage version of it a few years ago. With that guy whose name I should really know because apparently he's one of Ireland's most ronowned stage actors - somebody Kelly (I think) - he was the naked motorbiker in Waking Ned, and ... some other bloke.
I'm not sure I'd bother with the film, although I enjoyed the stage version. Lemmy, Bowie, Prince, Leonard. RIP.

But yeah it is overrated. [Edited 7/19/05 8:48am]
