As many of you know I dabble in a bit of bike racing. Yesterday evening I had a "little" accident.

When I say little accident what I mean is that I am lucky not to be dead!! Or so the docs and paramedics say.
I was flat out at about 130mph going towards Paddock Hill bend at Brands Hatch in kent. Second session out and getting a bit quicker. Just done a 56.12 so starting to move a bit. Came out from the bubble at 100m went for the brake at 75m.....and my lever was gone..... FUCK I mean gone as in not there.I wondered what it was that hit my knee half way down the straight. It had loosend its lock nut over time and dropped off. So that gave me about a couple of seconds to decide what to do before I hit the wall. Knocked it down a gear and hit the rear brake, that scrubbed off about 10mph but was never going to work so I had the unenviable decision to make of actually getting off the thing at 120mph. So I did..layed it down and got off. Fortunately the bike went away from me and flipped end over end 4 times.....it's fucked pics to follow.

As for me I went head long in to the gravel trap head to toe end over end 3 times, first hit was in the back. When I did hit the wall the gravel had slowed me enough and I lay there thinking I was paralysed for life.

The medics spent about 15 mins getting me sorted and then took me to the medi center. Another 40mins in there and they told me, nothing broken but you will be bruised all over for weeks.
Very lucky,apparently my back protector saved me.

So I am in bed for a week in the most pain I have ever felt and I simply can not move.

Actually the medic told me the first thing I said to him other than fuck this hurts was "shit i was on a promise tonight too"

I think that is why the missus was pissed off so badly

Sorry that I'm laughing, it's really not funny at all but it's just so unbelievably unlucky! And here I was thinking that I was unlucky when the only thing that was wrong with my old car was that the oil light never came on (bye bye to that engine ).

I hope you'll get back on your feet soon. You should frame that back protector and put it on the wall with a shrine for it underneath...
