"Yes, all my life." Damn. You want to hate the daughter but at the same time sympathize with her birth in a world where she is hindered by racism).

YES. There are two version of this and they're both great. One in black and white and then a 50's melodrama by Douglas Sirk.

Days of Heaven (Terrence Malick)

I thought I included this one in my list, but I must have left it off. Easily one of the most beautifully filmed movies ever. Stunning cinematography. I love Malick, and I'm really looking forward to the November release of his new film.

It baffles me that that Malick, one of the greatest living directors, has released a grand total of 5 films over a 36-year period and a hack like Michael Bay has released more than that in a 10-year period.

It's one of the great mysteries of Malick. But what is the fifth? Badlands, Days of Heaven, The Thin Red Line, and this new one confuse

His first film, Lanton Mills. I know it only by its name. I've never seen it. Actually, I think it's a film short. It doesn't count. Nevermind. lol

I've only seen the melodramatic one (second one) which I loved. Yes Amazon sells them both in one set at a really good price. I'll probably buy it for Christmas.

nod Universal originally released just the Sirk version on DVD. There was a renewed interest in his films with the release of Far From Heaven a couple of years back. They've since replaced that release with a new disc that has the original 1934 Claudette Colber version as well as the 1959 Lana Turner version.
