For me, what worked best was getting a job in a pub - meeting people every day and having to be more outgoing than came naturally. Eventually, it did come naturally I don't like my looks. I'm pissed that Cindy Crawford is twice my age and looks better than me. I'm terrified of hair salons and am all thumbs with my hair. I can't really afford new clothes. I've been saving for some but all I have is $250 and that won't buy a stunner's wardrobe. Alot of clothes aren't suited for me. I workout but it doesn't get me Jessica Simpson's body. So I hate my body. I wanted to lose 5lbs by the end of this month but that doesn't look like it's going to happen. I guess I'll have to live through photos of Jessica Simpson. She has everything I can't have: a great body, beautiful hair, and beautiful clothes. My job is okay. I can't leave yet because there's a chance that in November my crew is getting a pay raise. If I don't get that raise, I'll be crushed. One thing that pisses me off is my lack of talents. It takes too long to get really good at anything. I also procrastinate, am shy, lazy, eat when I'm bored, can't train myself to eat healthy. I'm a wreck. Too bad I can't beecome model beautiful by the end of the month. [Edited 7/13/05 7:27am] Whew! You're bummed cuz you wanted to lose 5lbs...if you only need to lose 5lbs then you can't be all that fat can you? And uh, there aren't too many people that have Jessica Simpson's body type or Cindy Crawford's looks. As far as being pissed about not having a talent, why not look for a hobby that you may enjoy first? Then maybe you'll get good at it and find your talent. Sounds like you're just lazy, only you can change that. You're problem is that you want to look like a super model. A lot of us do but it's not gonna happen. Be happy with what you have and work with that rather than complaining about it. And be happy that this is the only "problem" you have right now. Sorry for the bluntness but the reasons you are giving are ridiculous. Be happy you have a job and you're not obeise and you're not dying of cancer or something. I just about wrote the same thing... I would love to lose 7 lbs but I figure I should start small. I have 28 inch waist-it should be more like a 26inch. I deserve Cindy Crawford's looks and Jessica Simpson's body because I was teased horribly about my ugliness in school (u know that fat ugly kid w/ bad skin and no friends? That was me. I've lost 30lbs and still don't look like a model). Also I have sezuires, failed my driver's license test 3 times (!)and still don't have a license so my life hasn't been great. I'm only 20. I know it's not one of the most disasterous lives for ages 20 & under but it's up there.
Yeah I'm lazy but I don't know how fixable that is. If it doesn't fit, it's ugly anyway.

Yeah I'm lazy but I don't know how fixable that is. You deserve to have Cindy's face and Jessica's body because you were picked on in school! Hey I was fat too back in the day! Stop basing all of this on friggin celebrities! Go out and get your hair done a different way, maybe play with some makeup. You want to lose 5 lbs, get off your ass and go for a walk everyday. Maybe that will give you some motivation and you won't be lazy. I'm not picking on you, I'm just telling you how it is. Nobody is going to make these changes for you so stop feeling sorry for yourself and get up and do something!

You do know that both Jessica Simpson and Cindy Crawford have professionals do their make-up for them? They have personal trainers. They have chefs that cook for them. They have the money to buy the most expensive clothes, hair products, skin products, etc. They have all the resources us normal people don't have. So why even try to compare yourself to them, or any other "celebrity"? Also most of their photos are air-brushed (touched-up) to look perfect. Even they have flaws. Maybe if you start out by tring to be yourself instead of someone else, you will have a much easier time of it. "Always blessings, never losses......"

I wish that'd happen but how much of a Diva can I be if I can only afford to put aside $40 a month for clothes? I've tried like every resource for cheap clothes but I can't put a good outfit together. Nothning seems to be made for my body type anyway. My only hope is to lose that 2 inches from my waist. I've seen pics of Cindy and Jessica w/o makeup and they still look better. I've given up on my skin. It's just full of blackheads I was picked on so bad I had to be homeschooled because I couldn't handle it. I can get off my butt once in awhile but I can't stay up off it because I lose motivation. Maybe you try to do too much all at once. I find it much easier to make one small simple change at a time. Stick with it until it becomes second nature. It actually becomes part of you then make another small change. Before you know it, you will have made a nice transformation that you actually stick with. "Always blessings, never losses......"

Yeah I'm lazy but I don't know how fixable that is. You don't deserve any more than the rest of us do, LaCoyta....and for the record, a lot of us were teased as kids because we didn't look right, or have the right clothes, or enough money. You are 20, get over it. And as far as the seizures, there are plenty of us out there with seizures and they don't control our lives. Don't let them. Get your meds, check with the epilepsy foundation for employment opportunities or counseling, and even volunteering! Volunteer for hospice, and tell a dying person how shitty your life is.....perhaps then you will understand.....

Look child, first you need to stop thinking negative, it doesn't get any of us anywhere.
Second, i've seen a lot of people on here give you good advice, but you shoot them down with more excuses on why you feel the way you do. Listen the first step to changing your ways start with YOU and only YOU. Third, stop talking about it and be about it. Yes we all have issues, things that frustrate us about ourselves, things we wish we can change but can't, being stuck in the past instead of living today and for the future, and feeling uncomfortable by being ourselves. Yes I have issues, but i'm doing something about them, are you? You have to STOP banging yourself up. You need to have FAITH in yourself, because if you don't who else will? You have to ACCEPT the things that you cannot change, and give yourself courage to change the things that you can. I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.

[Edited 7/13/05 20:42pm] [Edited 7/13/05 20:43pm] Might I suggest going to one of your local fashion design and hair schools (w/dermatology) and inquire about being a subject for their students. Volunteering as a "subject" should give the students the experience they need as well as give you new ideas regarding redefining your image. The same goes for hair and skin. (Don't let them give you a style (clothes, skin and hair) that you are not comfortable with.) Inquire at all SCHOOLS! Even if they don't need any subjects, ask about hair, skin tips and trendy places you can shop with a limited budget. I have a friend who is presently cosmetologist. As a student, she would practice on me all the time! You are due for an attitude adjustment.....we all are from time to time. Might I suggest a 12 or maybe a 24 hour fast with water and Welches Grape Juice. (Thats all you consume for 12 - 24 hours) I know, it's a bit extreme but it helps with discliple, detoxification and clearing the mind. During this time - relax and think about what you really want and how you plan to get it. I hope everything works out! .....being fussed over will give your esteem a needed boost!! by the way - replace Cindy and Jessica (who ever they are) with Lacoyta!!!! Let me know what happens..... Yeah I'm lazy but I don't know how fixable that is. Don't forget you're only 20! Nothing is lost yet. I think its a part of growing up... Be patient and don't expect that everything will change in 3 seconds. Stop looking at the past. New people you will meet now nothing about your past and only see the person you are at this very moment. Try to deal with your past though. It's about finding yourself I think and accept yourself. Looking like Jessica Simpson will not make you happy. You will be happy you look like her for a day or so but nothing will change substantially. The inside counts too you know. Maybe you think this is corny, but it's true I think. And if you can't work it out alone, get help(like returnofdook said). Maybe you can already feel better by following assertiveness training. Or go to a rational-emotive psychologist. They help you to be aware of negative and unrealistic thoughts, for instance that in order to be successfull and happy you have to be pretty, have beautiful hair and whatsoever or otherwise you're a loser. It's nice if you're born like that but it doesn't mean you're doomed to be unhappy because you are different. Life is what you make it.
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
M. Ghandi put it quite simple, actually: "Be the change you wish to see in the world."
The Cherokee indians obviously knew how to look at life as well: "When you were born, you cried and the world rejoiced. Live your life, so that when you die, the world cries and you rejoice." I know it's kinda cheap to post some famous quotes around, but you just have to stop for a minute, look at yourself in this universe and realize that life really is what you make of it. And looking like Jessica Simpson?! Damn, why would you not want to be unique? Why would you want to look like a total dumbass? Look like who you are. Or better yet, let me finish with a quote from K. Cobain: "Come as you are." [Edited 7/22/05 4:52am]

[Edited 7/13/05 7:27am] Most of your self esteem issues seem to be related to your looks. I've had this problem too and have been slowly draggin myself out of it. I think a lot of self esteeem problems are linked to the pictures we see in magazines and on TV. A lot of people will argue this point but I believe its true in a lot of cases. Even you have compared yourself to Jessica Simpson!! At the end of the day, take away celebrities money, stylists and trainers and they would just be like the rest of us. Don't forget that what you see in a magazine is also probably airbrushed, elongated, etc. so its really not a true image of that person. I really don't like the shallow image-obsessed society we now have. We seem to have forgotten that there is a lot more to people than skin, bones and flesh..... I mean what about personality, intelligence??? You should look much deeper than the surface, find the qualities that makes you a great person and focus on showing those things off. I know new people won't know anything about my past. So I never say anything. if they ask about me and school I intend to say"it was ok" and leave it at that.
I started a new diet-sort of. I eat something then force myself to wait 2-3hrs before eating again. I ate less yesterday than usual(still 100 caloies too much) So I guess it works. Funny u should mention indians. I'm related to a guy who was named Chief Cornplanter (no, I'm not lying) Men love blondes and Jessica is the blonde of the moment. My brother used have pics of that woman in Warrent's Cherry Pie video in his room. Maybe I compared myself to her and knew I had a long way to go I know stars are airbrushed but they have better "raw materials" than the rest of us. I used to have a 27inch waist So I'd like to make a comeback-then some. I think a 26inch waist would look amazing in clothes If it doesn't fit, it's ugly anyway.
