HONG KONG - Jackie Chan says the third installment of "Rush Hour" is stuck in neutral because co-star Chris Tucker is making too many demands.

"He wants too much power. The movie company hasn't obliged. He wants final editing rights and the final look at the movie and so on," Chan told The Associated Press Thursday.

Chan called Tucker a "good friend" but questioned whether he had the stature to be so demanding.

"He's still a new actor," Chan, 51, said. "How many movies has he made? Two movies have already made him very famous and made him a lot of money."

"He needs to learn slowly," he added.

A call by The Associated Press to Tucker's publicist, Samantha Mast, wasn't returned Friday.

While "Rush Hour 3" remains in limbo, Chan said he's going ahead with another project - one with famed Chinese director Zhang Yimou. Zhang's recent films include "House of Flying Daggers" and "Hero."

Chan declined to reveal details of the movie, saying only that it would be "galvanizing" and is set in the 1980s. He said the idea is his, but Zhang will work on the script.

"He relies on imagination ... like an arrow flying through water," said Chan. "He has elevated the martial arts genre. I believe he can make any type of movie now."

I've never seen Jackie Chan this mad before in my life!! I hope he doesn't try to gutt punch Chris next time he sees him...

Uh, someone tell Jackie that he hasn't had any real hits in the states EXCEPT THE RUSH HOUR SERIES WITH CHRIS TUCKER. Someone also tell Jackie that Tucker made it big in Friday and Money Talks as well as Jackie Brown and Dead Presidents.

Jackie needs to check himself. Fast.

it's a shame jackie's movie is being held up by his sidekick. i'm a big jackie chan fan so i don't appreciate the delay so much.

for all of you who need a shot of jackie chan i liked shanghai knightswith chan and owen wilson. it's a sequel that ended up being much, much better than their first movie shanghai noon

I think he's entitled to make these kinds of statements. Hell, Average Joe on the street would be entitled to make these kinds of statements since they're perfectly valid regardless of who's making them. Final editing rights? Sheesh, Tucker's ego is out of control. He's even forgotten that he's an actor.

any of you bozos see the tucker video where he get pulled over by cops? and he say "i need to get to church....I'M GONNA BE LATE FOR CHURCH!!!!" cops, search his car and realise at end who he is...cops mention these terrible films, who wants the link?!?!

Biggest American films, yes, but I think there's more to Jackie Chan than the US films he's doing in the twighlight of his career for a little bit of extra money. That's where the money is, of course, though not so much the art. Some people here act like US cinema is all that matters. Chris Tucker is, thus far, a c-list actor at best.

It hardly addresses Chan's history as an experienced actor and director does it? Money isn't everything, but then, I guess these days it is. I sure as hell don't judge a film by how much money it makes though.

I guess Jackie is really Tito.

Jackie Chan is a huge star in Hong Kong, that's where his fan base is. His movies are comedy/martial arts.

He should try a "serious" actor part
