Need Help with my iPOD Hey... I'm pretty slow when it comes to electronics so any help is greatly appreciated!
Two questions - 1. I'm going to be going to Europe soon and want to bring my iPod - there's some sort of adapter I need to buy (to plug into the wall and charge) but I'm not sure which one I'm supposed to buy (I don't have a cradle - I just charge my iPod through that wire that connects to my laptop's USB port. Need help! 2. The "on the go" function in my iPod...I think y'all might be familiar with this function. Well I selected a bunch of songs for the "on the go" and then when I recharged my iPod (it updated via iTunes) the whole "on the go" list disappeared and I had to do it over again. what gives? Thanks!! PG Let the rain come down...17 days....

Didnt you read my I-pod thread!!!???
The I-pod is self-aware, it will do what it wants, when it wants. Give it its blood sacrifices and it will be happy!! If that fails, go to apple.com and type your question in the search; it sure helped me. I walked around for hours with mine in japanese mode: drove me nuts. By the way, the character that's shaped like a house with a mongoose in it means 'pause'.

I would call Apple about the first one. I suspect the iPod needs a voltage converter, since the outlets in Europe emit a different voltage than the ones in the US. However, be warned that the outlets in the UK are different than the ones in Western Europe! I had to buy a conversion pack from Apple for my iBook; you might have to do the same with your iPod. If you don't have the right converter then you run the high risk of burning out your iPod, which would suck big time. I mean, like, where is the sun?

Oh wow - i didn't even think about that. I have those "conversion" outlets b/c I've travelled Europe before, but do you recommend I buy the iPod travel pack? Sorry if this seems so stupid, but could I potentially "burn out" the iPod if I don't use the apple conersion for the iPod. Thanks again for your help. Let the rain come down...17 days....

When I lived in the UK, my American friend burned out her curling iron, hair straightener, and hair dryer from using an adapter that allowed her to plug in her American appliances into British outlets but did not correctly convert the voltage. From what I gather, the UK has a higher voltage (240v as opposed to our 120v) - which can lead to burn out. This is why I had to have a HUGE converter to charge my American digital camera in London, but only need a plug adapter to use my UK printer in the US. If apple.com sells converters, it might be worth your while to purchase them. Well, it's what I would do because in my mind it's better to play it safe especially since iPods are so pricey.
