LOL is a lie

Do you believe people when they say they LOL ?
Or they ROTFLMFAO ?
I used to...
I found out that's just "a saying."
They don't mean it.

Insincere bastards....part of me wishes I never found out the truth.

how did you find out the truth? and it does seem lame or phony to do that in the first place.

that's a phrase i refuse to use. hmph!

i'll use the lol emoticon, but i refuse to use those letters. it's just gross. and when people say it at social gatherings, especially when they say it in lieu of actually laughing, i don't hesitate to give them a prompt dosage of the stink-eye. whofarted

Precisely. I NEVER throw around my LOL's. If I am not literally LOL'ing, I'm not going to say that I am. And ROTFLMFAO ? I have NEVER done that, and would not even think to say it, since I've never done it.
Now, I have LSHMSWUMN (laughed so hard my soda went up my nose) but that is rare. If I tell you that I LSHMSWUMN, you know you are one funny bastard.

I don't use those letters, either. A simple "HA!" will do nicely. And usually if I find something funny, I in fact have a little giggle at it.

"lol" and all the variations are lame.

Yes, but only if you will hold her up to the night sky and say, "Behold Kizzy. The only thing greater than yourself."

I do actually laugh quite a bit as I talk, if the topic isn't serious...so typing "lol" helps convey what it would be like if someone were talking to me in person.

Plus, it reads MUCH better than "I just smiled right now, and almost laughed, because I thought what we were saying to one another was quite humorous, but it wasn't quite a laugh, but close to one. Had you been here, you would have detected by my facial expression and body language that I was in a good mood and was saying my words to you in a whimsical manner, enjoying responding to your conversation thru the act of laughing and smiling."

"LoL" sure beats "IJSRNAALBITWWWSTOAWQHBIWQALBCTOHYBHYWHDBMFEABLTIWIAGMAWSMWTYIAWMERTYCTTAOFAS"

Byron, I do appreciate the effort in your post.
I know it was time consuming.
But I would rather have your sincerity when you say you LOL.

If you had truly read my post, you would have known that my "LoLs" are always sincere...not a drop of insincerity in either of the "L's", or the "O" that appears between them.

Using "lol" at the end of a sentence is good for emphasising sarcasm.
