I really don't see myself this way and wondered whether I'd been trying to cultivate this persona or whether I do just possess these traits. Certainly being thought of as mysterious flatters my ego somewhat and it's not something I dislike. However, away from the internet I see myself typically as rather unmysterious and very simple. If I were to try to push this side of me forward more would that be just as contrived? I suppose that different people take you different ways and there's nothing wrong with that.

Do you have a persona you aspire to? Do you see people who you admire and think 'I wish I could be like them'? Do you then take steps to try to achieve your desired persona? Do you consider this disingenuous or simply worthwhile striving for self-improvement? Or do you simply go about your life and whatever personality manifests you accept and are content with? Do you consciously try to fit in with other people, or conversely try hard to be different? Isn't trying hard to be unique absurd and futile? Pretty much with me, I am the same on the net as I am in person. I have always been frank, candid, uninhibited and straightfoward. Given the environment, I may switch registers when deemed necessary in a conservative business setting(work related). [Edited 7/10/05 19:45pm]

I think people who go out of their way to express themselves are neat, and they inspire me to do the same.
But that's as far as it goes. Creating a persona, trying to live by it, trying to imitate others. . . blech.

I'm always trying to be the best Roman emperor I can be, without the riches and so on.
Seriously though... I never wish I was like any body. For the most part, I like who I am, flaws and all. Though I suppose sometimes I've been trapped into the idea of wishing I was the some body that some one else (the ex, N.) wanted me to be. I have come to realise I'll never be that person, and he's an idealist bastard regardless and nothing will EVER be good enough for him and he has a LOT of growing up to do... Moving right along... I neither try nor not try to fit in with others. I either fit in or I don't, and if I'm done, I'm just as content being on my lonesome. And yes. TRying to be unique is futile. It's like those fucking Goth kids. Unique my ass. That's the best I can do for the night . I'm going to imbibe more alcohol, flick the bean, and go to sleep. I've had a rough night. Insatiable taught me everything I know about balls.

Is spontaneity lost when trying to achieve a certain persona? A lot of questions, to be sure. Your thoughts, if u will. I just exist as I am in the world. I am genuine, outspoken, direct, honest, aloof, calm, confident, and assertive. Don't waste your time attempting to figure me out....you never will.
