The mysterious piano player http://www.guardian.co.uk...98,00.html
I recently read that they still haven't figured out who he is. Am I the only one who finds this story incredibly intriguing?

You are not alone. I find it intriguing as well. But there seems to be no remedy.

I guess we're lucky he's not communicating through a tuba. When I read about the evils of drinking, I gave up reading.

I think it's facinating.

it'd be fucked up if he were faking all of this.

I know, right? What if he changed his name to an unpronouncable symbol and claimed it came to him in a dream?

You are not alone. I find it intriguing as well. But there seems to be no remedy. I guess not. To me, just the fact that he's not from the town he was found in is extremely interesting, let alone his clothes, the wetness, his talent for both piano and drawing, etc etc. Did he swim from somewhere? Or did he fall off a damn cruise ship like charlotte jokingly suggested even though it could actually be true? I'm assuming that he used to be able to talk. Otherwise I don't think he would have been hired as a piano player in the first place (which seems to have been the case). So what made him mute? A traumatic incident? Why aren't there any relatives that can identify him? Is he autistic? I'm sure there is an amazing and gripping story behind all this, so I'm worried that once they do find out where he is from and which events led to his wetness they'll settle for that and nobody will ever try to figure out the whole story. Maybe I should do it? Hmmm.

maybe he is the sole survivor of a yacht which suffered the misfortune of having come into contact with a rogue wave. perhaps he and his bandmates were on the top deck playing romantic music by moonlight for honeymooning couples when the 100 foot rogue wave swept him and his other bandmates overboard, into rough seas.
he would likely have been all right even despite the wave save for the fact that during thefive days it took him to reach land he witnessed sharks attack and eat first his drummer then the violinist. he himself managed to stay alive by climbing aboard the crate in which the yacht's grand piano was moved, however the trauma of events was such that he's blocked any memory he had of what happened prior to his being found on shore.....

maybe something really traumatic happened to him and then he just lost it. i think eventually he'll talk and people will find out who he is.

Probably. It sure does conjure up images in your mind, doesn't it?

It's a Disney movie.....she's doesn't know her past Well, it is a Disney movie, but the Disney movie is based on the fate of a real Russian princess who would be a couple of hundred years old by now. I would be pretty freaked out if he was her.

Not that I know of. I actually think they found him about a year ago, so in a sense, this article is a follow-up. I'm starting to think this mystery will never be solved.

It's actually a Fox movie, And Anastasia was born in 1901 so she would only be 104 years old this year. but back to the pianoman.... maybe he's an alien android who fell to earth disguised as a musician, but happened to have landed in the water and shorted out his programming, he was meant to be the first step in a plan of world domination where his music would lull us all to sleep so the alians could come in for the kill. Now hoever he's reduced to sitting in a hospital plinking away and the Aliens are going to have to take more serious actions.....
