Uh, someone tell Jackie that he hasn't had any real hits in the states EXCEPT THE RUSH HOUR SERIES WITH CHRIS TUCKER. Someone also tell Jackie that Tucker made it big in Friday and Money Talks as well as Jackie Brown and Dead Presidents.

Jackie needs to check himself. Fast.

Not really. Jackie has been invloved in HUNDREDS of films. U may not have seen them...but many have.

Most of these films are martial arts oriented and were more than likely made overseas.

SO??? Some of you Americans can be so fucking narrow-minded sometimes. Just the fact that you refer to the rest of the world as "overseas" speaks volumes. You don't have to like Jackie Chan, but there is simply no denying that he is one of the most well-established and experienced movie stars ever.

Jackie Chan's BIGGEST movies to date are Rush Hour 1 and 2. Films he made WITH Tucker. Jackie needs to shut his trap and keep the beef with Tucker in-house. That's the ONLY point that I'm making here.

Calm the fuck down retina. You taking this way too personal. Jackie Chan isn't paying your ass to defend him is he? Why all this Anti-America hate from you? Chan is an establichjed martial arts actor, don't act like this dude is some Oscar-nominated mofo and Tucker is some scrub.

The Oscars are American too... I'm simply pointing out the fact that some of you live in a stars and stripes world through which every single thing is filtered. That doesn't change the fact that I know many nice Americans and appreciate many parts of the American culture, so I'm not generally anti-American.

Besides, my original point had nothing to do with Americanism or anti-Americanism but was simply that Jackie Chan or whoever else had a valid point when they said that Tucker was going too far. No actor is allowed final editing rights, that's just a ridiculous demand coming from him.

Are u sure he makes that? hmmm

It hardly addresses Chan's history as an experienced actor and director does it? Money isn't everything, but then, I guess these days it is. I sure as hell don't judge a film by how much money it makes though.

Damn straight he makes 20 bills a film, trust me. And most of Chan's hits are in the China film culture, not Hollywood. BIG difference. Also, this isn't about who has more experience, it's about Jackie shutting up to the press about Tucker. Keep shit like that in the kitchen and not in the living room.

Ok, I feel the need to point some things out:

1. The only films Tucker makes $20M for are the Rush Hour films. Because they can afford to pay him. However, he has not done anything outside of those films to make him worth that pricetag.

2. Tucker alone and Chan alone are not box office draws. In the case of the Rush Hour films, it is the chemistry between the two and the characters and concept behind the film that draws the crowds in. Alone, they do not compute, and their salaries reflect that. Neither of them has the stature to be demanding, and both should shut their traps. lol This series is doing a lot to keep their careers alive, and it sounds like Chan knows it, but Chris might be in denial.

But he gets 20 a pic if he does something else. That's how it is until he makes a bomb. So yes, he DOES get 20 bills a film. True, he hasn't done anything but the Rush Hour 1 and 2, but if he were to do another film, that is his asking price.

We also don't know if Tucker is or is not a box office draw alone because he hasn't done anything since he started the Rush Hour series.

But yeah, they need to keep their beefs in-house.

No he doesn't. Studios will not pay out $20M to a man who's part of a buddy comedy team when he hasn't proven himself in anything else. As you say, he hasn't done anything other than Rush Hour films since 1999. And he certainly did NOT get $20M for anything before that. Why is that? Well, he wasn't a draw before 1999, and he probably isn't one on his own because of two blockbuster buddy comedies. It doesn't work that way.

Chan does not make $15M + percentage of the gross on everything he does, just on the Rush Hour films. If Tucker was a proven draw, things would be different for him. I hear he's actually tried to get some films off the ground, but his demands are so completely insane ($25M + % of gross for Mr. President, a comedy he was trying to develop ca. 2002) that no studio will pay them.

Listen, if and when Tucker does another movie, he will get 20 bills. That's how it works now because that's what he can command. Mr. President was actually Head of State that he backed out on, as well as he backed out on Double 0 Soul and Undercover Brother.

For the Rush Hour flicks. At least Jackie doens't have a huge-ass ego that demands equal salary, since he accepted $15M for Rush Hour 2 while Chris got $20M.

Jackie's 51 years old and rapidly approaching that "too damn old to be making action flicks age" ( see schwarzenegger, segal, willis, van damme)...he probably sees his window of opportunity closing and is getting frustrated with Chris Tucker for dragging his heels. But Chris is thinking about the big picture, which is :if they expect this movie to make "X" amount of dollars, the studio is damn sure gonna pay him well to make them some money. The downside is, after too long a period, nobody will give a rat's ass anyway, as very few 2nd sequels (part 3) are successful.

And nom the reason he backed out of those films is because he didn't want to keep doing those types of films and jeapordize his 20 a pick status. He knew those films would flop. It had nothing to do with his demands, HE backed out of those project after he blew up from Rush Hour 1.

You have A LOT to learn about Hollywood. Jackie COULDN'T demand that much because Tucker carries the film. Tucker's films do better in America than Jackie's films. Jackie can't carry a film. He needed Owen Wilson in the Shanghai series. Did you see The Tuxedo? eek He carried that film all the way to the trash! biggrin lol

Like I said, you have A LOT to learn about Hollywood. Don't be too sure of that mindset that actors don't get final cut. Arnold, Stallone, and Willis have clauses in their contracts that allow them the leeway to do just that. It's not that uncommon of a deal to have, especially if you pull in the money.

So how much was Jackie making per film BEFORE he hooked up with Tucker? And I'm sorry, but in Hollywood, if you don't do well in the states, the film is rarely a success overseas. So yeah, you measure it off American audiences. I didn't make that standard up, it's just the way it is. jackie may be an INTL star, but he cant carry shit in America as a leading man by himself.

It's not hard to keep up with what's going on in the industry. wink

I can't give you a source, but way back in '02, the producers of Mr. President (which became Head Of State) dismissed him when he asked for $25M + gross %. If he's asking for editing rights on RH3, I don't find it very hard to believe that his ego is probably as big as his friend MJ's and he's been turned down for several pictures due to his demands. Undercover Brother would have been an excellent picture for him to make.
