Sedation Dentistry...

The idea is that you are sedated before the dentist begins working on your teeth, so that you don't remember a thing. Sounds like the perfect solution for someone like myself, who hates the sound of the drill (makes me nervous as hell) and the smell of the tooth as it is being drilled (just nasty). Am considering going this route with the amount of dental work that needs to be done. Has anybody tried it yet? Was it a positive experience or negative experience for you?

If you are worried about the work being done on your teeth then it's probably best to be sedated smile

I would never want to be sedated, even though I hate dentists. And there are some that take advantage of women by putting their hand down their shirt when the patient is sedated.

If you've got "The Phobia" and get the right dentist, it's the only way to fly (so to speak).

When i've had to go for anything more than routine maintenance, my dentist gave me this "pill cocktail" (valium and 2 other items I can't remember) to take an hour before the appointment. My wife drove me there and I vaguely remember getting into the chair.
The next thing I knew, my wife had me safe and sound back home in bed. The after-care pills were like an extra little treat.

hmmm Maybe I need another appointment.

I've thought about this, but I'm sure the dentist would have his assistant there at all times while the work was being performed. If anybody tried to claim that the dentist had tried anything "unethical", the assistant would know whether or not the claim was false (although even if the claim WAS true, I'm sure they would defend the dentist and say that it was false). whofarted

Cool thumbs up! My feeling is, why sit in the dentist's chair all freaked out when you don't have to?
