Not dumb at all.

The only accessory I know of that would sort of "plug in" is the iTrip one mentioned above in this thread. Unless you mean "plug in for power" in which case I don't have a clue either. smile

Thanks I want to be able to play it in the car, that's where I listen to most of my music.

I wouldn't recommend that. Not that it sucks but what if there's this one song you REALLY wanna listen to on the ipod shuffle? You gotta skip through hundreds of songs to get it.

that's exactly why i love mine, i've got the shuffle and a mini but i end up using the shuffle way more often, i just plug it into the computer in the morning, autofill it, and then go, i end up hearing all kinds of music that i haven't heard in ages because i forgot about them, or they weren't my favorites. it makes me rediscover all these songs that i LOVE but haven't listened to much. It probably wouldn't be as good if i were more of a control freak, but i'm happy letting the music go where it wants.

are any of you Ipod wizards? I bought one two days ago and its been synching my library now for over 36 hours. Is this normal for a 40g library? I bought the 60g pod.

I have a mini disc. Same concept but with removeable memory. A disc will hold 5 hours of music- I've got about 50... slap full!

No! What! I think you should unplug it (though they say you shouldn't but since your iPod probably doesn't have any music on it yet then it won't hurt), turn it off, reboot, and try again. The first time I tried to upload music it didn't work either.

About a year ago, my car stereo died. When I picked up a new one, I bought one with an auxillary output that the installer plugged a basic audio cable into. So, now I just just plug my iPod directly into the stereo via an audio jack and have stereo quality music.

So, I suggest you break your current car stereo!

the same thing happened to me too. It had actually finished loading the songs, but the iPod still had "do not disconnect" on the screen, so I waited and waited for about 15 minutes. I got tired of waiting so I just unplugged it and it didn't erase any of my files.

I have a 20 gig (AND LOVE IT) but I'd really like to have a Shuffle as it's so darned tiny and I could use it while running (assuming I'll actually go running). Roughly how many songs can one fit onto the Shuffle?

Or you could buy the new Alpine head units with the Ipod interface. I just brought my missus a 60gb photo and the Alpine kit and it is awsome. It even gives you stalk control and all the Ipod info on the head unit screen plus you can hide the Ipod away from prying eyes. Awsome

Ladies, thank you very much. Unplugged it, deleted the software, rebooted the works and tried again. Works like a sumbitch.

podcasts are basically radio shows, but instead of being a streaming radio show, the entire show maybe thirty minutes or two hours long can be downloaded and played at your leisure. many podcasts are professional in quality, but many more are done privately, by individiuals or by a couple of people. some are good, and some are horrible but the great thing about them, is that not only are they free, but they offer alternative viewpoints that you can't get in the mainstream media.

I'm a podcast junky.
