High Roller - The Stu Ungar Story.

High Roller stars that guy from the Sopranos, Michael Imperioli, and another guy from the Sopranos. It's based on the true story of Stu Ungar, who was some prodigy or whiz or something, a real legend.

But the movie sucked ass! He was talking to some guy in a dark bedroom through the whole thing, and it became pretty obvious that the other guy represented Death with a capital boring "D." About halfway through, I was wishing Death would come for me.

Imperioli was good. But he had some crap lines to deliver and it looked like the scenery was chewed before he got there. On those rare ocassions where they actually showed hands being played, you couldn't see the cards and the "drama" would get drained off into some ridiculous "side bet" that they had going on. It's like the writer/director whatever didn't trust enough in the drama of poker to carry a movie!

How can you have a poker movie and not show ONE freaking hand of cards!?

Why would you go see a poker movie?
Are you trying to learn something from the movie that might help you beat me at poker?
