War of the Worlds - Absolutely Terrifying (May contain spoilers)

Has anyone seen this yet?

I saw this last night. All I can say is that this is one gripping movie. It kept getting more terrifying as it went.

It was Steven Spielbergs turn to do a Disaster movie and he really does it right. Images of people in sheer panic are spot on (like the guy trying to pick apart the windshield to get in Tom's car with his bloody hands). I have read a few complain that it's pretty lite on plot and that the aliens intentions are never revealed as being weak points. I disagree. The plot is basically We're being invaded...run for your life! I do think that Steven obviosly thought about the alien intentions, but decided that it would contrive the movie if we get into their heads. All we get is from the point of view of Tom Cruise (who was formidable in this one).

Great Movie. I'll probably go and see it again.

Couldn't agree more. Cruise seems to be having some sort of meltdown, but you wouldn't know it from this movie. His best performance in ages, and really a suprisingly good flick. Best of the year, so far, for me.

I've just come back from seeing it...and terrifying is the exact word I would use to describe it nod

I know this sounds strange to some, but Aliens are a fear of mine and this movie just scared the hell out of me from start to finish!

I hate Tom Cruise. But this movie was great. Most suspensful movie I've seen since I don't know when. And Dakota Fanning was spooky-good in this film.

I actually thought that not knowing much about the aliens, other than they wanted our planet, made the film much scarier. And also, the ending that alot of people complain about, was more realistic and better to me than some "Independence Day" fight-back bullshit. It also allowed the film to be scary right up till the last 10 minutes.

The ferry was scarey as balls!
