Dreams and Shoes

So for about 3 years now I've had recurring dreams of losing my shoes, not my whole collection, but the shoes I'm wearing at the time. The circumstances of the dream are always different, but the central activity thereafter - looking for my shoes - is what keeps happening. Though I don't totally believe in the whole, your dreams tell you something about your life thing, I've often wondered how it would be interpreted. You know, just for fun. When it started the dreams were fairly regular but they've dwindled down over the last year. Until last night. And something crazy happened!
In my dream I was in Chicago with a bunch of girlfriends. We were taking busses to get from one place to another and just as we were arguing about whether to stay out a bit longer or go back and retire to our hotel, I discovered I was barefoot. I'd left my shoes on the last bus we were on. But instead of spending hours trying to locate the bus (as I'd have done in past dreams) I just said screw it, jumped off the bus at the next stop and went into a shoe store to buy a new pair. And they were freaking fabulous shoes!!! (I could spend hours describing them, but that'd bore you. Its always boring to hear about other people's dreams, isn't it?)
So anyway, now I'm thinking maybe I should take this as some kind of omen.
Granted, circumstances totally pushed me into buying the new shoes (I couldn't very well wander around Chicago barefoot, whereas in past dreams I was always at someone's house, someone's party, whatever...) but I still quickly got over my despair at losing the shoes and moved right on into a new and even better pair.
hmmm

Whaddya think? Have you ever had a dream clarify something for you in your own life?

I'm no psycologist but it just sounds like you were woried about loosing things/people or something important. Now due to a change in your circumstance you are secure with loosing said thing cus it can be/has been replaced by something better. It would be great if you never have the dream again - cured!

I don't think that dreams are always a message though, but recurrent themes may hold some significance.

Can someone analyse my dream? smile

I have a recurring dream whereby I'm being chased. I then find a safe place to hide but then I panick and keep running to elsewhere in fear that the chaser(s)will catch me.

Dreams in general or your own dreams? What are your basic theories, I'd be interested to know.

in my tradition of dream study ... everything in your dream is actually aspects of yourself

so you are chasing yourself
hiding in places that you know you cant hide from yourself in
panicing in fear you'll find yourself
and running again from yourself

Hhmmm ... quite interesting

i would look into what it is about myself i am running from

peace

I had a dream that apes were in my moms backyard, and they were chasing me.

No one cared that I was trying to save everyone,

all they cared about was if I had put the camera back in its case

big grin

Dreams have always intested me but I never have any (recall any) to study. I am always facinated to hear what people think. Preminitions, anxieties, hopes, fears. I have always had a strong feeling with regard to dreaming and Dejavu.

Wow. Ummm… I don’t know what my shoes represent. For work I wear an old comfortable pair much of the time, and my shoes are more conservative for work. But in “real life” I go for fun and funky shoes. Lots of color, fun heels, and generally not as comfortable, but I love the way they look. I feel good in a good pair of shoes.

As for shoes outside of myself? I LOVE to buy new shoes. They make me happy. Even if I’m not buying them I can walk through rows and rows of shoes in a store and simply admire them. In fact, I often do.

If you're ever in San Jose, we have a shoe date at Steve Madden.
