Well I fight, I will not be run over without a fight!!! I did Aids volunteer work for 10yrs, doing some stuff with the elderly now since i do take care of my Grandmother.

But what about ALL moinorities uniting and doing our own thing, like schools, business and the like. The Jews did it and they are STILL prospering.

But I am also careful of who I spend my money with as well. If a store is nasty to Blacks or other minorities I tell them to fuck off and take my business elsewhere. We as minorites could show the Man a thing or two just by not doing business with him.

We have to respect ourselves by getting a trade or education, treating each other as humans, and acting like the Kings and Queens we desceded from!!!

I think too that since I was never materilistc I can fight and not be worried about it from a consumer standpoint, rather people first. NEVER SAY DIE!!!!!

Well...there are a plethora of factors: 1. Lack of Unity within our own. 2. Lack of the same resources and/or exposure which can be equated with knowledge and education. 3. Governments lack of interest in inner-city education. 4. Parental Apathy 5. Reliance on others to do the work necessary in making OUR OWN lives more enriched!

As much as I hate to say this....we DO need to understand how this capitalist society works...and we also must adhere to the game as it is setup....CLEAN UP YOUR CREDIT....BECOME THAT RESPONSIBLE PERSON WHO CAN BECOME LIMITLESS IN YOUR POSSIBILITIES and get "some" of the same treatment others get by being that responsible person, and not sit back and say...."The Man" is keeping me back! Bullshit! YOU ARE KEEPING YOURSELF BACK!

But if you are safe with in your own apathy...then don't make waves.....

No ASSumptions necessary...and your silence speaks volumes!

Oh, with the wordplay! It's ok to just call me an ass if you want, I'll survive.

And who was silent? I whistled and everything. You're preaching to the choir.

Another great thread Dex, by the way..

At 1st, I was going to say “we fight because we HAVE TO fight for something”..
Then I thought about it a little more..

Those of us who choose to fight have different reasons & motivations, to be sure.
Ultimately, we do it because we are here on this earth & because we can do it.
[As much as some of us want to be an “island unto oneself”, ultimately very very few of us lives a disconnected, Totally isolated existance.]

from my perspective,
each
of us has been blessed to be able to do at least 1 thing really well –
be it
split an atom, paint a masterpiece with oil, design/build contruct something, give an inspiring speech..

whatever our talent leads & inspires us to do,
we should do that thing because we can.
It would be a shame – among other things – not to.

TRUE,
In this “American culture” a lot of emphasis IS placed on “instant gratification” &/or “tangible results”..
but sometimes, we don’t always see the impact we have on others. In some cases, we will never see the impact we have on others.. but this does not mean that we don’t do our best, that we at least make an effort.

So on a few occasions we do our best & we have exactly the tangible desired result we were looking for.

on some occasions, we do our best & we may have a “moral victory” of some sort.

On still other occasisons, we do our best.. & that’s the “only” thing we can take with us from that particular experience.

When “failure” happens,
At least I want to be able to say “I know I did the best I could in that situation, in that moment”

all this to say:

It is right to “fight”
because we can.
I'll see you tonight..
in ALL MY DREAMS..
