Sista.....being shy is not a problem. But understand that you are seemingly limiting your external possibilities. Now, you may be just fine in this, but something tells me....(this thread) that you are now seeing my point as it is your point as well.

As much as I love my solitude and independent thought (so I think!) It is still necessary to be a person of the world around you. You grow in your own mind and body with the energy that you choose to accept and filter. Your character is ever building on top of itself with every interaction you make in the world. I think you have made your revelation clear here and just needed to know from your support group that you are safe with it!
