Just in case your current soundcard does not have the ability to accept the low output level of a turntable...
...you'll need a phono pre-amp. (about $30) A "no-cost" alternative is to use the line level output of the receiver your turntable is normally connected to. A good article on the subject... http://www.pcworld.com/ho...810,00.asp tA Tribal Disorder http://www.soundclick.com...rmusic.htm "Ya see, we're not interested in what you know...but what you are willing to learn. I use TOTAL RECORDER. It's cheap and you can get it on line for about $10. What's good about it is that you can also use it to record andything on the web.

good luck...it's a long process.
Best way is to connect the "line out" (for stereo receiver) or "rec out" (for mixer) to your computer. If you don't know how...I recommend imic by macintosh. it can connect to USB or to a regular "in" jack" which is normally the "mic" jack. You will need a program to "record" the song or songs. There are some free ones out there that are free ware and you can use pretty easily (most though have like a time limit or have limited functionality if it's freeware or shareware). If you got the tools, like Cool Edit Pro or something like that you are good to go. imic also come with software that can help you. Set up your program/computer to record the "source". Usually this can be done under the recording devices in your control panel.IF YOU DO NOT KNOW HOW TO DO THIS...I'D STOP HERE AND FORGET IT. I'D ALSO STOP IF YOU HAVE NO CLUE HOW TO OPERATE A WAV EDITING PROGRAM. Let's assume you do.... You can let the whole side of the LP play, while you record it in the program. Or if you don't want to do hella editing...do one song at a time. You can use most software to get rid of pops, crackles and hiss. Also to add volume, as most vinyl is set lower than CD. And to finally answer your question...any decent sound editing program is good. I have used Cool Edit and Gold Wav. The imic comes with software as well. Christian Zombie Vampires | |
