Peter Jackson's King Kong!

Sorry if this has been posted already, I've been on vacation. I was flicking through the TV channels last night and on one of the spanish channels, I picked up the trailer for the new king kong movie directed by the Lord of the Rings guy: Peter Jackson. Couldn't make out the dialogue, but the visuals looked great, so I looked it up today.

It looks like they are going for the 1933 version remake and not some modernized one. Friggin' cool!

Kong looks great.

Anyone else think that CGI dinosaurs (or whatever they were) look a bit tired these days. confused Once you've seen flipping Jurassic Park, they all look the damn same. neutral

biggrin This is a must-see for me. I've been looking forward to it for a long while now. It's been shuffled around for a while, and even though I wasn't a huge fan of the Lord of the Rings movies I thought Peter Jackson was a good choice to direct this. The trailer looks fun. Though I really admire the cheese factor of the 70s version, I'm glad this one is keeping the spirit of the original. I'm glad to see the return of the dinos in a King Kong film.

it sounds fun but i'm disappointed jackson would want to 'RE make" a movie that's been done how many times before?

i don't get this 'remake' trend. what happened to fresh, new entertainment?

Its actually only been remade once before. There have been a lot of knock-offs, sequels and spin-offs, but there was only the 1930s original, and the crappy seventies remake.

Jackson's remake is true to the spirit of the original, but with groovy effects and set pieces. I really look forward to it, since it is a great story that really can benefit from the visual improvements.

Well, sorta. They'd never been done as live action before.

King Kong looks great, I can't wait.

Of course the original is Peter Jackson's favorite movie,
so you just know it's safe in his hands.
