How do you cook a turnip? Or a swede? All I know is baked in the oven with salt and pepper was very yukky there must be some kind of trick to it?

you can chop it up and roast it - take it you didn't like that.
but i'd boil it in chunks (like potatoes) and then mash it with some pepper. if you add it to mashed potatoes it tastes lovely too. Or use it in soup? i'm running out of ideas now.

I might mash them up, the ones I roasted, and mix with potatoes, might taste a bit better.

Steam it in water with salt in a pressure cooker for about 10 minutes.

Roast or mash are the only two I can think of, maybe saute?
Haggis wi neeps and tatties Nice in a stew too, lamb or chicken works well with neeps. They need a lot of cooking though, more than a spud or sweet potato. Happy is he who finds out the causes for things.Virgil (70-19 BC). Virgil was such a lying bastard!

I think you boil them for a little while, then mash them up and add butter and some salt and pepper i think... NOT too sure about that one, I dont really like turnips... The day came when the risk to remain tight in a bud was more painful than the risk it took to blossom - Anais Nin

Mash it with carrots - its yummy!!!! The sweetness of the carrots takes away from the turnip taste I'll leave graffiti where you've never been kissed

I used to eat raw turnips with salt on them. It's been a while since I've had them though. I don't even know if I could stomach them now.

I made soup out of the roasted ones and it still doesn't taste great. I give up I will not be buying turnips again I think.
