GottaLetitgo's Heroes: Ken Marshall Ken Marshall has only been in one good movie but what a movie it was: Krull.
Forget Star Wars. If any movie series begged for a trilogy it was this 1983 sci-fi classic. Marshall was Prince Colwyn, a brave cocky lad who, in order to bring peace to the galaxy had to marry the lovely Princess Lyssa. Unfortunately, both their families are killed by Slayers on the wedding day and Lyssa is kidnapped. Colwyn must find his lady love in order to restore balance to the force...err, um, bring harmony to the universe. So Marshall as Colwynn enlists the help of a wise wizard, a screw-up magician, a ragtag band of thieves and...um, am I leaving anybody out. Oh yeah, a humongus cyclops that can show Colwyn a place where there are horses that run so fast that fire comes from their feet. And, by the way, the cyclops can see the future but only his own death. Bummer. So Marshall kicks some slayer ass and has this really cool weapon...no, not a light saber but a kickass throwing star that has retractable blades. Ultimately Marshall faces the movie's main villian, a huge ass 500 foot tall...something. It's hard to tell what it is but he is ugly and very, very pissed off throughout. The movie is a rip-off of Star Wars but works in it's own delightfully cheesy, really low budget way. I loved this movie and saw it like 5 times at the movie theater. I thought Ken Marshall was cool as the brave Colwyn and expected big things but then...well, nothing. He did movies with titles like "The Stay Awake", "Burndown", and "Amberwaves". He also did some TV guest appearances on "Star Trek Deep Space Nine" and "Jag". But the coolness he displayed in "Krull" was never captured by another director. Marshall is a bit of a one hit wonder but still a hero of a movie I loved in my childhood. And to show that EVERYTHING is somehow ties in with Prince, Francesca Annis plays a weird sort of women who, for some reason has to live in a big spider web and later on she went to play Mrs. Wellington in "Under The Cherry Moon". All good things they say never last...

Moving Krull to the top of my NetFlix queue immediately!
I'm pretty sure I spelled "queue" (sp?) wrong but I can't be arsed to either check the spelling or edit it, so we're just gonna leave it as is and not say a word. Got it, everyone? Thanks. [Edited 6/21/05 13:49pm]

We always giggled at that title since "krull" was Swedish slang for "pubes". Not that we had any, but still.

That brings a whole new meaning to the movie but I am not sure what exactly. My friend who didn't like the movie called the movie "Krudd". But the dumbass saw the movie as many times as I did. All good things they say never last...

I wonder what happened to the guy who played the Cyclops. He was so morose and his sacrifice in the movie (I won't give it away) is so moving.
On a different not, I forgot there was a video game. Did anyone ever play it. I don't remember it. ![]() All good things they say never last...
