Without looking at the links, I can assume its the cruelty to the animals that gets you. If you go to fancy grocery stores, you can get meat that is free-range, as carefully tended to as you would hope an animal is before they are "humanely" killed before preparing for human consumption. It's rare, but is available...
And I'm certainly not a full out veg, but you can lower your meat intake pretty quickly. I rarely eat meat, and usually when I do it's cause I get a craving or cause I'm out and eating something fancy, but even then I'm pretty particular. lol. I don't buy it for home and prepare it. You can do wonders with tofu and seitan and even if you're not much of a cook you can buy stuff that is prepared and seasoned and just use that in quick and easy meals.
