I have a friend who recently 'found GOD' and claims to now be straight. He's been dating men since high school and has decided that he doesnt want to live a homosexual lifestyle anymore. He's now dating and sleeping with women. He professes "to not be gay anymore". What do you guys think? Is this possible? to be gay all your life and suddenly become straight? I always thought that once a person becomes gay, than there is no such thing as suddenly becomming straight once again. But he professes to be 'a straight man'. Can someone tell me if this is possible?

Well, I can only speak for myself but I certainly didn't become gay, I was born that way and there's no way I could possibly become straight cos it just isn't in me. There is no sexual pull towards females in me whatsoever. Personally, I'd imagine that your friend is simply pretending to be straight because it's what he feels will be the 'accepted thing' in his new 'life'.

But, that said, each person can only define their own sexuality. While it's most likely this person is gay and just can't deal with it so is pretending (to himself and society) that he is straight, maybe he's been straight all along and was "pretending" to be gay... Maybe he's bi and is just now coming to terms with the other aspect of his sexuality. Can't know for sure without knowing the person.

You're welcome. I think there are still a fair amount of people that don't understand that "gay" is a noun, not a verb. It's a state of being, not an action.
Of course, we could confuse them to all get out and say straight people can have gay sex and gay people can have straight sex, just for fun or experimentation or whatnot but it doesn't change who and what they are on the inside.

My barber told me he was abused as a child, and he started getting in trouble, rebelling, having sex with men and all that stuff. Then he told me that he found god and it 'saved' him from going back in2 thatr lifesyle. Now he's married, gotta job he loves and 3 nice kids.

But then there r some who have been gay, and just scared and want to be straight because of society.

Religion is a cunning extortionist and can convince people that they can change but you are who you are. I went to church in Orange County California and went to a church in Costa Mesa that started a program called Exodus. It was designed to help gays tear down the closet and declare themselves as heterosexuals. When someone is riddled with guilt, and someone else facilitates that by making them feel guilty, the mind and heart can play all kinds of tricks.

Some years later I saw the founder of this organization at a gay bar. Surprised I walked up and introduced myself and discovered that he had left the group, denounced it really. He made claims while leading the group that God helped him to see the light and change his sexual preferrence. He said that he was brainwashed. He said he was in denial the whole time. He said that he never ever changed, that it was all an act. He said he did what he thought he had to do in order to have favor with God, and the religious community. Someone else took the lead when he left but the truth is the truth. God does not and will not change you, and you don't need changing in the first place. You need to accept yourself for who you are, a creation that God intended. Supposedly God makes no mistakes, you surely hear that in the church all the time. Well if that is true, we are not mistakes.

There is a life to be lived outside of the guilt that the church so willingly bestows upon us. God is a God of grace and love. This is open to all of us, not just straights. God did not send us into this world only to not be a part of it. God did not send us to this earth for the sole purpose of denial and shame. God sent us here to live and love, just like everyone else. Claim it. Be it. Don't let fear be your master. You can be free. I know, I used to be enslaved and now I know the truth. My truth.
