I was talking in the context of fame and giving up your privacy to a certain degree in exchange for the adoration of millions.. I haven't done that, I'm a private individual, not in the public eye, I'm not saying public figures aren't entitled to their privacy, I'm saying that it is an inevitable aspect of the lifestyle they have chosen to pursue and I'm pretty sure walking down the red carpet is a whole lot more financially and personally rewarding than serving burgers in Burker King. So the good outweighs the bad for most of them. As for us mere mortals, we're entitled to not have a pap staking out our garbage bins, So are they, but I can understand why it happens to a certain extent. thats all. The public are insatiable when it comes to their celebrities. Also the public like seeing famous people do ordinairy things rather than just this controlled image that they brandish. ... [Edited 6/23/05 3:50am] i just think it sucks that a person can't make a career out of creating art - whether it's by way of acting, directing, making music, whatever - without success meaning that they have to sacrifice privacy. i do agree that to a certain extent, lots of celebrities bring it on themselves, making their personal lives larger than life for publicity then crying about feeling violated when it doesn't suit them anymore. and there are lots of celebrities who open up their personal lives because they think they're doing good things and they want to serve as role models - that's actually pretty admirable, i think. and then there are those who take great pains to be professionals, and maintain a very tight cap on their personal lives. i think it *IS* an option entertainers have, but the temptation for more attention may be too great for many. i look at people like bjork, beck, and these days, even prince, as people who have done a great job of keeping the tabloid media out of their personal business. so i dunno, maybe it's all a matter of choice, and media scrutiny isn't something that "happens" to a celebrity without, on some level, the celebrity's consent.

The price of fame I think its called. i think it's one thing to take a picture of a celeb if they're out clubbing or at a party or something, and i don't even think it's so bad to approach a celeb and ask for an autograph, as long as you're willing to leave them alone if they ask you to do so. it's another thing to be taking pictures of them walking out of their homes or taking their kids to school and stuff like that. when i lived in new york, i used to see famous people all over the place and at first, i was all star struck but after a while, you kinda just get used to it and they become folks who just kinda register as..."familiar". of course, the time i almost got to meet david bowie in a pearl paint store was a moment that tested my bladder control, i will admit.

When kids are involved that is a big NO NO! Unless it's with the consent of the parent, otherwise that crosses boundaries that dont need to be crossed and shouldn't be. We see quite a few famous people here London , so it isn't a big deal, I've seen a few in my time. My sis saw Jude Law with his kids in Notting Hill (she used to live there) She didn't ask for an autograph or approach him, but she said he looked gorgeous as ever and kids were beautiful, like him David Bowie

I'll be the first to say that I'm a star-fucker. I usually get very star struck. The good thing is that I keep my composure. My brain is the one that's going 300 miles a minute saying "Oh my God, oh my God, oh my Go."
