Lets Help Each Other Stay Healthy

So, I've always been one to cook healthy but my downfall is with my snacks.....Its just soo much easier to eat some chips or cookies or candy as a snake.....

So, I'd love to hear from everyone about what they eat as snakes that are healthy for you...

Ive been buying grapes and strawberries....turkey jerky and " handful of everything" trail mix...but i fear im going to get bored of them fast....

so, whats a good quick snack?

I eat watermelon, peaches, apples, and dried fruits. Also nuts (almonds, cashews, walnuts, pecans) work well if you're on the go. And carrots, if you like them, are great, great snacks.

My dietologist makes me eat a ham sandwich mid-morning and a yoghourt + a piece of fruit mid-afternoon.

That way you eat less at lunch and dinner cause you're not so hungry. It works nod

No u dont. U dont need to worry about any food as long as u remember that u dont eat too much of it. We all know too much of anything labelled as junk food is bad, so we can just moderate it.

I admire ur and other peoples enthusiasm about this sorta thing, but virtually all my girlfriends in the past fuss over this as u do. Its just too common these days.

Get ur heads out of hollywood and glossy magazines and just eat a variety of shit.

Its getting sad the way people fuss over calories.

I dont even know who Lohan is? I see she is mentioned alot on here? I saw her in "freaky friday". A pointless remake. It was OK movie though. Thanx to enthusiasm by the stars involved.

Franky "vice versa" kicks theuir asses as the best body swap movie.

The body swap is quite ironic. I wish I could tell every girl to stop reading those mags. I really think they screw u up. Not in a big way, but just in a unhealthy way.

The fruit that youre snacking on sounds good but Im not sure about the turkey jerkey. It can have excessive amounts of sodium and nitrates. Id stay away from that. You could have some tuna packed in water with some 100% whole grain bread with flax with a piece of fruit and a fresh (uncooked) vegitable. Also, look into juicing. You get a very high nutrient level per calorie if you juice fresh fruits and vegitables. I would also encourage having a bit of protein with each snack. It will keep you satisfied for a longer period. Stay away from processed foods. Those will be the death of you. Shop along the perimeter of the grocery store. Some of the trail mixes can have too much salt and preservatives too. Make your own! Put your own oats in, your own nuts (should be raw, not roasted with oil or salted) and your own dried fruits (without sulfites). Make sure that your protein sources are low in saturated fat.

Please stop doing this. Stay away from this processed stuff. These flavor packet thinsg are loaded with blood pressure increasing sodium. Stay away from processed stuff. Eat your veggies raw or with a natural homemade dipping. Here is a good one if you like creamy dressings.

1 cup plain non-fat yogurt
shallot to taste
1 clove garlic
tsp olive oil
chives to taste
black pepper to taste

Nutella is a spread like peanut butter but made with haazelnut and cocoa. Its tasty but it does contain hydrogenated oils. Id stay away from it.

GangstaFam

My friend and I go to Trader Joe's and pick out dried fruits and nuts and put together our own Trail Mix of what we like - dried apples, cherries, cranberries, peaches, apricots, almonds, walnuts, raisins, seeds, whatever you like. Just a couple handfuls will get rid of you hunger and give you energy for hours.
