1 - Get a job over there and then have your employer apply for a visa.

2 - Go over there on a tourist visa and get married to a US citizen (within 90 days) with a good job. After which you will have to apply for change of status to permanent resident within 180 days after you got married.

3 - If you're extremely lucky you might be considered a skilled worker and get your visa like that, but I doubt you are one.

To be an American you must first eat loads of fast food, gain tons of weight, and complain about things that you do nothing about

then they wont even ask if you are an american citizen

lol

It's only temporarily. After the stuff with the INS is taken care off you can each go your own way again. It will take less than a year.

Seek the advise of an immigration lawyer. Get the lawyer to do the paperwork so its done properly, I have worked in this area of Law and it is wise to have a lawyer. Well worth it. thumbs up!

Or apply at the consulate/embassy of the country of your choice and go through a lot of red tape.

Right now we are applying 2 return back 2 the USA 2 live and U just wouldnt beleive all the mountains of paperwork we have had 2 go through!!!!! shocked shocked shocked

The thing is it wasnt like this in 1992 when we first applied and went over 2 live in the USA, but since 9/11, the paperwork has doubled!!! Now u have 2 ask your doctor, who in turn has 2 check with the NHS on thier huge database, for your medical records with your history of innoculations from birth and any other boosters, also if u have had any contagious diseases, etc. Then u have 2 apply 2 your local Police Dept for your Criminal Record and any convictions u might have had throughout your life(Your local Police Dept in turn has 2 petition 2 New Scotland Yard cos every criminal record of every citizen here is on one huge database!!). All this takes a phenomenal amount of time and money!!! Then they want affidavits of support, cos they dont want u being a vagrant and sponging off the State directly u get there and they want 2 know if u are an honest tax paying citizen and they want records of employment!!!

Beleive me, its a total nightmare, but 2 us its all worth it 2 go back "HOME"!!!! nod nod

So how will you get around that? Just from what you have said on here your husband hasnt worked in eons, you dont work, and you had to go to the UK and live off your parents, because you were too broke to stay in the USA. I hope people in the INS or whatever its called now dont read Prince.org for your sake!

I've got a E2 Investment Treaty Visa.....can work in the US any time. As an european citizen, it is even better than a green-card..... Don't have to be married to an US-woman!

I'm doing number two for retina. confused

Actually, on a serious note, my friend Daniel married a Filipina chick, two years ago, and he's still trying to get her over here.

See he fucked it up. He should have gotten her there first on a tourist visa and then gotten married. Of course this is not info you will get from the INS, but it's entirely possible as long as you don't mention that it was your intention to get married prior to your husband/wife's entry to the US.

It ain't MY wife. I don't much care. biggrin

I think the broad did it cos he sends her money every month. Pretty much everything he makes, in fact.

I went with him yesterday so he could pawn his fender for money to send her. She always needs some.

Heavenly

These days you cannot change your status once your landed in the US. to change your status you must go back to your country and apply for the right visa.
So if you go as a tourist, and find a job, you'll have to go back to the UK to apply for a worker visa.
