Story:

I needed change for the dryer...I thought I had enough change when starting laundry, but I needed four quarters. Too stinkin' lazy to get in the car and drive somewhere to get change...so I came up with the brilliant idea of putting a dollar bill in the coke machine at my complex, and then hitting the "Return Change" button, thinking it would give me four quarters back for the dollar I just put in (the machine always does this). Like I said, brilliant, right?

Well, apparently the "Return Change" button is broken...and I kept pushing it over and over again...but nothing came back. No quarters, not even my dollar bill. So, I thought I'd go to Plan B (which there really wasn't a Plan B until that very moment). Since Cokes are only $.75 cents, I'd just buy four Cokes with four dollar bills...and voila, I'd have my four quarters, plus four tasty cold beverages to boot...um, I mean, to drink.

So I push the Coke button...nothing comes out. I push it again...still nothing. After 14 more tries, I determine that the machine is out of Coke...so I move down to the next button, which is Dr. Pepper. I push it...nothing. I push it again, still nothing. Determining that I don't need to push it 12 more times to reach the same conclusion, I figure it's sold out, too, and move on to the third button (Diet Coke). Again, sold out...I'm pushing each button over and over like a 12 year old kid in an elevator, and nothing whatsoever is coming out. Sprite...nothing. Sunkist...nada. Cactus Cooler...zilch. Even the root beer is sold out (who the hell drinks root beer anyway??...Just drink regular beer!!).

Near the bottom, though, is a button with the word "Pepsi" on it... I hover my finger over it, just repulsed at the thought that my hard-earned dollar would be going to buying this disgusting drink...but laziness overrides taste. Plus, I don't have to drink it, right??...So I push it, figuring that, like all the other beverages in the machine, it'll be sold out, too. Wrong...a Pepsi can comes flying out at the bottom, like the raggedy puppy that finally gets picked from the kennel. Quite telling that every stinkin' soda was sold out...except for Pepsi. But I digress...

I pick up my Pepsi (((shudder)))...and retrieve my quarter...then, against all principles, insert another dollar, and buy yet another Pepsi, retrieving my quater afterwards. Four times I do this, just to make sure I can do laundry without having to drive anywhere and care about how my hair looks.

The result...a once-in-a-lifetime-moment:








I have four...count 'em, four...cans of Pepsi in my fridge.

I hope the neighbors don't find out...

It's not the Pepsi that concerns me, its the rest of that stuff in the fridge (except the Amstel).
