Attention Red Sox fans........ Even when the Yankees are playing like shit, they're still better than you.
New Yankee Stadium The Yankees will begin construction on a new stadium across the street from the current Yankee Stadium in the spring of 2006. Completion is scheduled for the 2009 season. The project is part of a larger redevelopment plan that includes a hotel, conference center and high school for sports-related careers. The stadium will feature an exterior facade which will replicate that of the original Yankee Stadium. The interior of the stadium will be a separate structure, rising above the top of the exterior. From the outside the structures will look similar to the original stadium. A "great hall" between the exterior wall and the interior structure will feature five to six times more retail square footage than the current stadium. The signature frieze, the lattice work that once rimmed the original stadium's roof, will adorn the new stadium's roof in the original copper. BTW, I WILL be there on Opening Day. The Yankees are paying for it themselves also, no taxpayer money at all. [Edited 6/16/05 7:48am]

No retractable roof? I guess that wouldn't work if it's still supposed to look like the old stadium.

years of misery,so bite it Yankees fans Um, no it doesn't. One good year does not erase 86 years of mediocrity. I say that as a baseball fan, not just a Yankee fan. BTW, it took the biggest choke job in history by TWO teams (the yanks and cards) for you guys to win, so don't act like you fucking rolled all over MLB. That's another thing about sox fans, delusions of grandeur. At least when the yanks suck, we can admit it.

Yankees - 26 World Championships Red Sux - 1 Try something unique, like before they disgraced the game with this Wild Card foolishness. You know, like winning a Division Championship instead of backdooring your way into the playoffs. It just seems kind of bogus that you don't have to fight for the pennant but can still make the playoffs. Kinda wimpified. tA Tribal Disorder http://www.soundclick.com...rmusic.htm "Ya see, we're not interested in what you know...but what you are willing to learn. C'mon y'all."

Then you could do away with all the wildcard stuff. But that would mean adding two more teams to the American League which baseball can't afford right now.

Yes, I know that, however, to me, it doesn't matter. Anyone can beat anyone in any given series. But, if you weren't good enough to win your division, your ass shouldn't be in the playoffs in the first place. It's one of the reasons baseball's season is so long, to seperate the better teams. I mean, I kind of like the wild card, it creates some interesting matchups, but when it comes down to it, if you weren't good enough to win your division, you don't belong in the playoffs, plain and simple. Give me a good old pennant race anyday.....

Here's another alternative to come up with the 4 playoff teams using the existing Division stucture and number of teams. The two Division winning teams in each league that finish with the best records go to the playoffs. Or if you wanted to include all the Division winning teams... The Division team that finishes with the best record, gets a by. The 2 Division teams left in each league play each other. The winner of that series plays the by team. The winner of that series goes to the World Series. Sounds fair. tA Tribal Disorder http://www.soundclick.com...rmusic.htm "Ya see, we're not interested in what you know...but what you are willing to learn. C'mon y'all."

Me, I'd like to see contraction and pennant races, but I'm an old schooler. I wouldn't mind a four team playoff, but I'm still for contraction. There's players playing that, no knock on them, but they're not major league material, but they have to fill those roster spots. Things I would love: 2-4 team contraction raise the mound back to the original height no wild card MAYBE no DH (I'm not decided on this, I still think the DH is kind of OK) Oh yeah, I would love to see Bud Selig's head impaled on a pike and paraded around the nation for baseball fans to throw rotten vegetables at. He's Satan and has ruined my sport.

He's Satan and has ruined my sport. Yeah. I've lost some love for the game (professional sports in general) over the years with all the rule changes and the spoiled modern day athletes. I played as a kid (Bonnie Braves/Prospect Park league) and have and always will be a Yankee fan since "The Mick". Contraction would probably be a good thing. Get rid of some dead weight. Wild Card - OUT! Mound height and DH could be talked about. Regarding Selig on a stake... ...i'm sure Vlad could use the work. tA Tribal Disorder http://www.soundclick.com...rmusic.htm "Ya see, we're not interested in what you know...but what you are willing to learn.
