I saw Evil Dead (1) When I was 16 years old. Scared the hell out of me! I was very impressed by it. Never watched it again... Maybe I should...Just to see if my 'scarelevel' is as high as back then!

Evil Dead, for me, was pretty scary. It's weird because some of the technology in this movie was pretty bad but effective. It's very creepy.

if you're new to the horror genre then evil dead might seem scary.

BUT once you look past the obligatory gore and listen to the dialogue, you realize the movie is hysterically funny. they all are.

It was a number of years later until I saw the first two.

Evil Dead is a great load of fun. Very gory, yes, but scary? Not really. It's more tongue in cheek than anything else. Evil Dead 2 is pretty much just a remake with better, gorier effects. I didn't really care for Army of Darkness. If you like the films, you need to find this release:



It's out of print, but worth finding for the packaging alone. They're doing up Evil Dead 2 for release with similar packaging. Found this at Davis DVD:

Or u can just wait for the remake to come out later this year in the theater, YES an EVIL DEAD REMAKE IN THEATERS THIS YEAR and also THE FOG remake.

Evil Dead is somewhat creepy, but not really scary.

Evil Dead 2 is my favorite, since it combines scares, gore and all that with a liberal dose of humour. This is the film that the cult of Ash was born from.

Army Of Darkness (or, as I like to call it, Medieval Dead) is just the filmmakers having a good time. Nothing remotely scary about it, and its not suppossed to be.

Yes, they are doing a shameful remake of Evil Dead, with someone else playing Ash. Listen up you primitive Hollywood screwheads: BRUCE CAMPBELL IS THE ONLY ACTOR WHO SHOULD EVER PLAY ASH!!!! PERIOD!!!!

As an Oregonian, an actor by trade, with a few side hobbies.

You’ve been referred to as a jack of all trades, can we see this as an attempt to keep interested by showing more facets?

Mainly, I find new things to do because the entertainment industry is morphing all the time. I'm just trying to stay afloat the technological changes more than anything. Aside from that, I like the big umbrella of entertainment and there are many fun things to do within it.

Since comics are a new thing for you how difficult/interesting was it to change gears from writing a book to doing a comic to writing the film?

I thought it was really hard, but I went at it as organically as I could. I wrote a short story first, so I could see it in my head, then I did the best I could to translate that information to X amount of panels on X amount of pages and where to plug in dialogue and narration. It made my brain smoke.

The easy part was that in filmmaking, you are taught to think visually and it's the same in comics - it's mostly all visual.

Are you up for writing more comics after doing The Hire and Man with the Screaming Brain?

Well, I tend to respond to the market if the market responds to me. If folks enjoy the comics (and purchase them), I'd be happy to cough up more mindless entertainment.

Is there anyone out there who you would like to work with? In comics, film etc.

I don't usually keep a wish list, only because I try and make the best out of a given situation. I figure if I hang around long enough, I'll run into some cool folks, and I already have.

How do you feel about being replaced in the relaunch of Evil Dead and will it inspire you to show them how it’s done with Evil Dead 4?

You know, Rob Tapert, Sam Raimi and I all owe a great debt to our original investors since they helped us get started, so the re-make is for them, and it's for fans to experience that type of scary flick with cool new effects. I'm happy to get some new, young punk and splatter him with blood.

Can we look forward to another cameo in Spider Man 3? If so any ideas yet on what you’ll play?

As you recall, I named the character in the first Spidey, defeated him in the second one, so surely, I will become him for the third and take over the world!!!

After directing your first feature film has this brought out the inner sadist in you?

Well, you'd have to ask the crew that I worked with. I'm of the "firm but fair" school of directing. I tried not to abuse my endless powers.
