That New Apple/Walnut Salad At McDonalds...Are They Serious?!

has anyone tried that stupid new salad that mickey d's is trying to pass off as a "healthy choice" item?! the destinychild green fork special or whatever?!

i was desperately hungry at work a couple weeks ago and didn't want to forrage, so i stumbled into a mcdonald's for fries and a shake (hey, it happens) and figured i'd try it, since they so rarely have anything vegetarian on the menu, much less anything that they'll hype.

it was GROSS. the walnuts were caked in sugar and there was a dressing/dipping sauce that was basically cinnamon roll icing, and the apples tasted like they were soaked in chemicals. no wonder beyonce's hawking this stuff! ill

The 'salad' is two small sliced apples with grapes, walnuts, and a side of yogurt for dipping. Not worth $3.00.

it's really a rip-off. i think they're making it a rip-off so they can say they tried offering 'healthy alternatives' but the customers didn't like it. i also bet if all the mickey d's were to start selling mcveggie sandwiches (there were a few test stores that offered 'em, and they really weren't bad), they'd be way more successful. but that might piss off the beef industry...

Fauxie

They really do suck.

I can't even get a quarter pounder with cheese here, although I can get a samurai "pork" burger and a McGecko sandwich.

mcdonald's launched a prototype "McCafe" here in chicago for a while, which was supposed to be their answer to starbuck's...it was laughable, virtually campy...i really hoped it would catch on, because it was so silly i wanted my friends in NYC to experience it.

We went into the McD's near us and asked for the mcveggie sandwiches, they said they had them but they wouldn't make them for us so we were all"fine then" and walked out. mad
My friend had the fruit salad -it was about 8 apple slices,3 raunchy inedible grapes, the walnuts and that vanilla yogurt they put in the parfaits...definitely not worth the money.

They tried the McLean about 15 years ago and it sucked. It was like eating cardboard. I know it's not the McVeggie, but they just can't make good food for the healthy conscious.

Not that I care. Gimme a Big Mac or Quarter Pounder with Cheese any day! razz

I've never tried it and never will. I'm deathly allergic to walnuts. I'd have the worst break-out if I did.

Sugar coated walnuts, eh? WTG with the health-consciousness, Mickey D's. rolleyes

There's some resturants that will serve it. You can find a butcher that sells it too. But it's not like we have it every friday night for dinner. lol
