StreetSmart vs. BookSmart Which one are you?
Me? Booksmart...I don't get down too deep with the streets!! But I can't be taken for a fool either! The man who does not read good books has no advantage over the man who cannot read them. -- Mark Twain.

Neither. but I'm learning both.
But I'd choose streetsmart. I think with streetsmart, it allows you to learn how to treat others and take care of yourself in the real world, and also allows you to learn all the book stuff from the people you meet.

Probably a good mix of both with a higher percentage on the book side.

Both. You cant make it where I grew up without being street smart and book smart. You wont make it too long.

Booksmart will let you know more information that you might use a few times in your life.
Streetsmart will be used daily in some cases.

My now 38 year old aunt is extremely street smart, which was great as I was growing up. I could ask her about pretty much anything and she would give me a no-nonsense answer. A bully at school? Deal with him this or that way. Drugs? Go for cocaine if you want this kind of high, go for pot if you want that, stay away from meth because it's only going to fuck with your head, etc. She was never judgemental but always realistic and caring.
Personally, I'm fairly street smart but I'm definitely more book smart. I'm fine with that since you can't really acquire book smarts if you don't have a bit of it right from the start, whereas street smarts is something you get automatically as you gain more and more life experience.

Ex-Moderator | Booksmart, but I'm not completely ignorant on streetsmarts.
My mother used to tell me I had more booksmarts than anyone she knew but that I had no common sense. I used to hate that. I think I have plenty of common sense. That and I was always the one keeping my friends out of trouble. |

Definately booksmart... hell, I was mugged on the blue line train here in LA, because I was reading a book and not paying attention to my surroundings... Booksmart.
It's one of those things where I think I COULD be streetsmart if I didn't spend so much time holed up behind a book or a computer.

it's important to have "booksmarts",
because they can contribute quite a bit to "streetsmarts".. but ultimately.. we all (well, most of us) live in the "real world" & not "in a book". for myself, I would say that I have JUST ENOUGH "book smarts" & quite a bit more of the "streetsmarts".. the trick for me, of course, is APPLYING these streetsmarts at the appropriate time & in the appropriate situation.. I'll see you tonight..
