BATTLE OF THE BULGE

Oh my God. I've always had to deal with battling the bulge. I've won on some occasions. Right now it's doin' a number on me. I've just been so hungry. I've been eating everthing in my path. I haven't been going to the gym, it's been about a week. Ugh!!! CALGON TAKE ME AWAY.

You have to find something else to occupy your time with besides food. Exercise! You will feel good on the inside and out. Trust me. smile

See that's the thing. I've always gone to the gym and I feel great after. I lift and sometimes run. I'm more into lifting. I know what to do to lose weight, actually to gain because I would love to be just all muscle. It's just that I sabotage myself and I don't know why. I'm sure it all psychologically leads back to my mother but who knows. It's like I'm afraid to succeed.

Ugh.

I really appreciate all your support!!!!!

I don't completely support it...but I hear Atkins can help shed many pounds within a month...after that it's a slow battle...but it's good for dropping the initial pounds.

I have never really had an issue with wieght (though now I am getting a tummy) but I do know it can only be accomplished by changing your diet.

You can really eat all the time...it's what you eat though that gets you. Things like instead of a bag of chips...baby carrots and a very low calerie dip/dressing. It's better for you and it fills you up. It's actually better to eat than to starve yourself.

Water. Water. Water. Fills you up and it's good for you.

Try eating with Chopsticks. One of the issues we have is that we eat too fast and too much. Ever notice sometimes you overeat? It's because you never let the food to start to digest (thus making you feel less hungry). Also try eating your salad 2nd, so the food will start to digest quicker. Eat Slow = Eating well.

And of course regular excercise. Get your heart going for 30 minutes every 3 days and work out at least 2.

It's about eating healthy and being diligent with what you eat. It also takes time and patience.

And remember it's NOT about being fat...but about feeling fit.

Miguel has got to deal with whatever is causing him to eat emotionally. He isnt hungry, he is eating to fill a void. He has got to resolve that.

Okay, I thought you might have meant you were making sure that you don't get a hard-on in inopportune moments. In that case, my advice would have been to get undersized jeans. No pain, no gain. smile

For the past six years (since Desmond was born), there has been no battle. My bulge(s) and I are more like an old unhappy married couple. I want to throw his ass out, but all I can stand to do is cut up his clothes and eat ice cream later.

For the past 2 months though I have joined the local community fitness center. I go to the gym and I attend water aerobics classes. I am on no diet. I just drink more water and not so much food. (I eat out of bowls, instead of on plates) even If I am going to eat chips, I don't grab the bag. I get one of my son's old toddler bowls and put them in there. When it's gone, I'm done. It's hard teddybear, but it's worth it.

*Big ole hugs* hug
Shake....shake, shake, shake.

Thanks for all the great advice. I have to get back on it. I was doing so well for a really long time. Now, age is becoming a factor. Although I still feel like I'm 18 years old I'm actually 38.

And about that crotch watching. I prefer to check out butts. I have an obsession with them.

What you're saying is that I need a boyfriend.....and you're probably right.
Problem solved.

Actually I don't need an excuse to eat. I eat when I'm bored, happy, sad. I do agree on the whole filling my void thing.

Who wants to fill my void.....somebody....anybody... biggrin

Butts! drool

Regarding the weight thing, it's usually a matter of state of mind for me. If I'm really depressed I lose a lot of weight without actually doing anything different. Likewise when I'm very happy. Maybe I am moving around more then without paying attention to it but I don't think so.

My diet doesn't affect me much at all. I thought I could get back to my semi-washboard stomach of my early twenties if I started eating right combined with a bit of exercise, but not a damn thing happened. On the other hand I have a naturally slim body type so I'm not worrying too much. I think we all get a little bit of gut under/around the navel area as we get older though. It's a sign of character I say! smile

thats a ..erm...well, you see its a .....oh yeah, thats it, its a dumb-bell, they have these new fangled, sugar coated dumb-bells, the idea is you have a lick of the sugar when doing a really strenous workout to boost those energy levels.

i can see how it could resemble a doughnut though.

hug I feel for ya, I know how it is! Seems like every little thing you eat makes you gain weight, and I hate that! Been kind of not eating as good as I should lately, so for the past few days, I've been eating a lot of fruits and veggies, and just a little bit of protein, and washing it down with a lot of water. I hate having a weight problem, and always having to diet/exercise, it sux!!! I would rather just eat what I want and not have to worry about calories and gaining weight, but unfortunately, it does not work that way! sad
RIP, mom. I will forever miss and love you.
